Driver's Seat Position Memory

Hi All

I took my car for service at BMW Sydney today requesting them to active the driver's seat position memory.

The car should automatically duplicates the same driver's seat position settings as the last time that particular key was used. (from each remote control key). I've been advised from the service manager, they'll charge $100.00 to active this function. (cos it is an optional features, requires a software to trigger) that's a bloody ripped off!

When we picked up our X3, I believe everything was in default settings. I read somewhere from other forums, apparently all new BMW owners should receive their first activation free.

Could anyone shed some light on this? does anyone know how to active it without going to the stealer!!

Thanks
Leon

From memory it's withing the settings in iDrive, something about last seat position crap & favorite keys.

Favorite key 1 = m1 and favorite key 2 = m2 on the seats.

It also remembers your mirror positions, short cut assignments on the dash, radio station presets for each key (i.e. they can be different), last music source being played and temp / ac settings from the last time that key was used.

Read your manual, you can assign each of your remote key according to your seat, mirror settings etc.

Leon - our 2008 X3 also has the memory seats. They should be active from get-go; at least ours were. But sadly many of the functions that can be set via iDrive on later cars do need to be set by the dealer on these older gen setups.

Assuming you bought the car new from this dealer I'd ask again - they should have run through all this when you took delivery. Ours did and made a couple of changes for us on the spot.

Suggest you also take a look over on X3world.com There are alot of guys there with good knowledge on these cars.
