Maintenance Upgrade program

Hi All,
I recently bought CPO 2009 335i with 20k miles on it. CPO will end March 2015and the car is still under factory warranty till march 2013. I will put less than 10k miles/year, may be around between 7-8k miles/year. is it worth to buy Maintenance Program for this car?

You advice will be much appreciated

Thanks

No. Maintenance plan is over 2k
You will likely only get
spark plugs: $200 at an independent
three oil changes: $250 total at an independent
two brake fluid changes: $200 total at independent
brake pads: $500 total at independent
wiper blades: $50
cabin filter: $30

and you could DIY it for about half of what an independent charges, if you have the desire and tools to do it

Sounds a lot like my car which is E92 335i 01/09 build, 03/09 delivery. I have extended maintenance (was already on the car so they gave me a deal on it). But my car has more miles and I drive more than you do. I'm going to expire the factory warranty on miles about 2 months before it would have expired on time. Right now I drive about 12-14k per year.

Also, my car is 6MT and clutch disc is covered. I fully expect a car with 300 lb/ft torque will go through a clutch before 75k miles. Even more so when lightly modded (PPK).

Since your car is low milage and you don't drive it much, you're not likely to take full advantage of the extended maintenance, which is really pre-paid maintenance that can be financed.

You've only got 20k now, and you're only likely to drive it 14-16k miles in the next two years. You're not going to wear enough stuff out. You're the kind of customer they love.

In my case, I'm at 49.7k right now... going to have front brake pads (and hopefully rotors) done Thursday, still under factory warranty. If they won't do the brake fluid change (due 1/2013), I'll just come back in Jan. and have them do it under the extended maintenance.

Then, over the next 26 months, I'm back for an inspection in 11k, back for the front rotors when they're under the limit, back for the rear brakes/rotors (probably in about 10k or so), back for brake fluid again 1/2015, and hopefully back for a clutch before the damn thing expires.

I fully hope to be the kind of customer they (BMW NA warranty geeks) hates

Needless to say, all this maintenance plan is doing is spreading out the cost of the scheduled maintenance over the course of the loan. I'm still having to pay out of pocket for necessary maintenance that they don't cover, such as intake valve cleaning and manual trans / final drive oil changes, coolant change and 7.5k oil changes in-between the 15k oil changes.

I have heard from users that have installed PPK that it reduces the oil change intervals in the CBS to 7.5k from 15k. So that might be one of the few ways to game the system. I just wish they'd offer something with more viscosity that 5W-30 as a dealer fill oil...
