I like the 1 series, but it doesn't really make a lot of sense to me to get one if I've already got a 335/3 series. If I get something smaller, it has to be a different manufacturer.

nah i looked at the A3 when i was shopping. I hated it then and i still dont like it. I just think the 1m looks much nicer then it.

Call me biased i guess, just my opinion though.

Nah I understand man, that's why you got your 1 Series. I just like the more unique/fattened look of the hatch. I REALLY wanted a 135i before, but I went with the 3 instead.

But you're right, I don't even know if it will come to the states, either. I just like it because its kinda different. And its lovely looking. Looks-wise, this > 1 Series M.

Just explaining my reasoning. I have no need for 4 doors or a hatch. Certainly not knocking it, just isn't for me.

iono not liking the RS3 for that price...

if they can do it for 40k OTD with some nice options, than yeah

Reverse stagger wheels? Don't know about the particular awd system Audi would employ here, but it sounds like it's primarily fwd with occassional awd. Is that right?
Not that it matters because you'll never see it stateside. Wouldn't mind seeing it here as an option, but I don't think Audi sees this as anything more than a marketing exercise.

The system employed in the RS3 and TT-RS are permanent awd system that runs in normal mode a 50/50 split but can transfer power to the axle with the most grip, the reason for the wider front tyres than rear is because the RS3 places more of it's weight over the front axle and this tyre configuration give it a more balanced handling with much less understeer than one would generally expect from this type of setup.

So far the reviews having be very promising, though they have shown the system in conditions best suited to favour awd but it still has impressed everyone with it's grip and balance showing that fun can still be had, even when the weather takes a turn for the worse.

Though this and the 1M aren't really rivals in the truest sense, what with one being a coupe and the other a 5 dr hatch but they will still compete for the same type of person that is interested in performance at more affordable price. I do know all UK stocks of the RS3 are accounted for and I am sure the rest of Europe can't be that far behind.

Eh, also noticed the 5 cylinders. Why the hell does that sort of engine even exist? I'm turned off.

Thanks Footie. Though I'm sure enough money and horsepower can address a lot of things, it seems like the A3 is starting as a sow's ear with a weight distrabution that is far from ideal for a sports car. Probably part of the reason for the extravagent cost is that Audi has to first dig itself out of it's own hole before it even makes any real progress in terms of performance.

That's the only redeeming thing about this car. The engine is basically 1/2 of the V10 engine. I think it won the engine of the year title last year

Say what? I would kill for a 5 cylinder car. The Audi sport Quattro is my dream car. Forget about tacky R8, lambo, Ferarri, Aston. If I buy a 100K+ car I will import one of those.
