Turbo Replacement
So I was driving home from Santa Monica sitting in traffic while all of a sudden my check engine light came on. I pulled over checked for any leaks and everything seemed fine continued to drive as I was 20 miles from home still and I realized that the car was not boosting and when I turned the car off when I got home there's a rattle coming from the front passenger side. So from what I've been reading is that the turbo needs to be replaced and I'm wondering if there's anyone around the LA area that can do it without charging an arm and a leg. Thanks

I would not go straight to a turbo problem. I had a similar situation, my waste gate was fluttering out of control on the front pass side, at first I had minimal boost and after a week no boost at all ( and getting the low boost fault code) It was just under the 82k miles so I took it in to the dealer thinking I would get a sweet new turbo set up. After running the diagnostics they found it a vacuum hose that broke and that was causing the problem.
Moral of the story: don't go straight to the most expensive repair solution start with the cheaper options. Even from the dealer, The SA hooked me up with free diagnostics ($350+), with labor like 2 hours of labor, and the vac hoses only put me back $10-15. Paid around $320 you can go to an independent shop to try and see if any the vac lines are frayed |

Same with my problem, unless it was WOT or half throttle the code would not come up. Best of luck with the fix man, definitely research on the vac lines and let me know if you figure it out what's wrong

Well so far I replaced the vacum lines that go across the front of the engine and I've been driving it hard and not check engine lights. She pulls hard like before. I just need to replace the rest of the vacuum lines.

The entire vacuum system cost me about 500. Not sure because got additional work done. It wasn't expensive and it was worth it.
