That was my question as well. Doesn't seem to be an answer. Its not a common problem, but its not unheard of either.
Wonder if there is a DIY for it. Part is only 256 from Tischer but install is 3+ hrs.

Still waiting on the parts to come in, currently I am still on foot patrol (not really, have a new C-Rolla' in the driveway. Might as well be walking, I could beat this thing in a foot race.). Will do as soon as possible.

Car is STILL down. Purchased a CAS module using realOEM to source the part number. Global BMW didn't want to sell me a module without selling me 2 new keys... I had to find the part number to give to them and now all of a sudden it was possible to just purchase the unit and code existing keys.
So.. everything is installed and when we go to crank the car both brake and clutch need to be depressed in order to start it. Call Global.. "oh that's just a new security feature". BS. The module they ordered was for a automatic. Car cranks, but will not build any boost. So.. the car goes into Global tomorrow to see if their coder, I believe its called an Isis, can recode the CAS or if they will have to order another part. They are insisting that the part is correct, although there's no way I can see it being correct. I am just hoping that Global car fix this. I have been without a car for about 2 weeks now.

If the CAS is coded for your VO, it will automatically set the necessary values. I did not know there were different part numbers for automatics and manuals. |

Got the car back on Tuesday. Global BMW charged me 469 for coding.. please, just don't even comment. I have already had a long, somewhat heated discussion with them as well as the owner of my performance shop here in Buckhead.
The CAS module itself was 340 and my other shop only charged me and hour of labor, even though they probably put in 5-6. Total came in at $909 dollars. I could have ordered a CAS thorough Tischer and saved myself 60 bucks though. (Thats turbos and CAS in 45 days, currently I have spent over $100 dollars per day on this car.) The Global SA I was speaking with informed me that they are now stocking the CAS modules due to the the amount of failures. Apparently a failing CAS can be added to the e92/e90/e93 most wanted list. The piece is pretty benign looking and I'm sure I could get together a DIY for those of us looking to save on install labor.. couldn't be more than an hour though. I'll snap an image later. Thanks to all for input and help.

Same thing is happening to my wife's car. We drove it for half hr. shut off to get gas or something then can't start teh car back. Tried to jump it but nothing... then the guy jumping it had to go so I disconnected the cable and waited another 10mins and the car came back! We have been getting weird battery/wiring issue before and bmw did a battery load test on it and said it was fine... so I don't know what to do. Whether it is the battery or wiring that needs to be checked, car is a hazard to drive |

Never snapped a picture. It was just a square black box that had 2 clips that inserted into the end.
