2009 E90 320D - Sump Plug Location

Hello,

Does anyone know where the sump plug location is for the BMW 320D E90 2009.

I am looking to changing the engine oil by myself but just want to be sure of the correct screw to remove to drain the oil.

As for the oil I purchased Castrol Magnatec 5W-40 C3 Fully Synthetic Car Engine Oil from Opieoils. Is this suitable as most suggest 5w30. It says it is BMW LL-04 spec on the label.
Castrol Magnatec 5W-40 C3 Synthetic Car Engine Oil

Thanks

5w40 is fine, and C3/LL-04 is suitable for DPF equipped diesels.

I'm fairly sure the hatch is pretty central under the car, if it is offset to the drivers side, its only a small amount. It is pretty obvious though.

What i will say is be careful tightening the sump plug, dont go swinging off it like a gorilla or you'll strip the threads in the sump. Best to use a torque wrench. It needs only a little more than nipped up.

Thank you. Should be easy. When I jack the car up I'll add a photo to this thread.

25Nm is torque. That really is not much! With a good wrench you can accidently exceed it by the factor of 5-10 and strip the thread

Perfect. Found it yesterday when I did the oil change.

It was a hatch as you said.
