Dealer wants $3k for CPO.. Get bmw extended warranty instead?

Hey guys so looking into a new car. The bmw dealer is saying $3000 they will take off the price of the car without the CPO.
But the CPO work and everything has been done already they are explaining to me, along with new tires, as i've seen.

But CPO is 2 years long..
Wouldn't it be a better idea to drop the CPO, save 3k, and buy bmw's extended warranty that is 3 years long?

Do I gain anything from getting the car with CPO? vs extended.

I'm wondering something along the same line as I'm searching for a car myself. If I don't buy a CPO car and want warranty, which extended warranty should I purchase for my car? If I get a car that is under 4yrs/50k miles then I am able to purchase extended warranty, correct? I always thought CPO was a better way to go since if I get an 09/10 then the warranty would end some time around 2015/2016 or 100k miles.

CPO covers more and has no deductible, extended is a year more but last I looked was also like 3500, so similar money.

You sure CPO has no 50 deductible, I thought I was reading that it has?

get 3rd party extended warranty. I've one from my credit union (Route66 is the provider). I've used them to fix an oil leak and was pleasantly surprised how they stood behind their product.

Did you expect to pay $3k for "the product" and only get a piece of paper for the $$$???

Why do they get rid of the CPO? Do they know the car has problems thats why they want to take it off so they can make $$$ from your service.

I am not completely sure, I would go with coverage, either CPO or extended.

CPO always has a deductible of $50. I'd much rather pay that than an outrageous bill! Once my original warranty runs out, I'm gonna see if I can get CPO or some kind of extended warranty.. It'll help big time in the long run

You cant get a CPO if you own the vehicle. You can only go extended warranty.

i would definitely go extended, a little more comfortable knowing you could take it in for anything that irritates you without having to shell out 50 bucks, no matter how small it is

Extended and if you search this forum there is someone with a dealership contact in the carolina's that will sell it for pretty cheap.

And if you are buying a used car don't get CPO--it is just a used car with an included warranty. CPO inspection is a load of crap....they just get cars from the auto auction and slap the warranty on and call them CPO.

I did not buy mine CPO, as it was still under the factory warranty. I opted for the BMW Gold warranty w/ $50 deductible to 100k miles or 10/2013. I paid somewhere in the ballpark of $2300.

Niether, put the money in the bank and use it to pay for any repairs that would be otherwise covered. Chances are, you will have money left over in the end, possibly a lot of money if you are a little lucky. After all, extended warranties are not a favor, the vendors are making HUGE profits on them, as is the dealer.

Just like Vegas, the house always wins...
