Don't you lose power when you do this mod?

You don't lose power at all..and it takes time for the mod to actually kick in...I didn't notice it till about and hour of driving! It's easy and free. You can do it for the 328 but you'll have get under the car. Only the 330i and 335i have the wire in the trunk'

Golf tee mod in 330i!!

i unpluged that cable, woah i feel like its a more agressive response!
i live in a city that is 2600 meters above sea level, so engine compression is afected 11% for every 1000 meter above sea level, so technically, a N/A engine loses about 26% of its performance up here. but with this, wow i feel like i've gained 10hp lol...
can someone please explain, what this cable do on the exhaust and by unpluggin it, what is it "eliminating"?

Chances are, it's mostly a placebo effect. All this does is disable the exhaust flap on the right side tail pipe. When the car pulls off at a certain speed this flap closes to reduce exhaust noise, and then only opens at higher speed or combination of speed and load. If you still have it plugged in, you can actually hear the flap open and close at low speeds, very subtle, but it can be heard. I still want to devise my "switch-able" version of this mod, because when I had it disabled by unplugging that cable it was nice at first, but not too long after it got rather annoying for me. And interestingly, my E46 330i M has the normal golf-tee mod and it's rather pleasant and not too excessive. So maybe I just need to give it a try again. The added induction noise from the N52 intake is probably too much for the extra exhaust note, but anyway, boils down to personal preference.

Just remember that by having this cable unplugged to disable the exhaust flap rather than disconnecting and plugging the vacuum pipe, there will be a stored fault each time the car drives - it won't trigger an error on the dash, but it will store a code.

yeah, no way you can feel it.

it's entirely speed dependent btw. If I remember correctly, the speed threshold that the flap open is only 17kph, which is basically any speed other than stopped. If you can feel it from 0-10mph, you have superhuman perception..
