would you guys be willing to pay $150

hay guys i was wondering if you guys would be willing to pay 150 for a full detail on your car.Iam starting up my own detailing business and wanted to know what you guys would be willing to pay for a

1.interior vacuum,all carpet stains removed,clean and conditon leather,clean dashboard,remove scuff marks

2. wash exterior,clay,polish,wax,clean polish wheels,tire shine tires,clean engine bay

about a 3-4 hour job depending on size of vehicle

i have been doing this for about 3 years now and wanted to know if you think that would be a good price for lets say.. a 3 coupe.

if not what would be a reasonable price.

thx,Jon

150 for the whole entire car... your dealer will be ranked as those cheap crappy detailing service that any garages around the area offer. 250-300+ is standard for a good detailing service.

Based on my experience detailing my own vehicles, 3-4 hours for a full detail as you're describing would be lightning fast. Either i'm slow, or the quality of the detail you're describing is different than what I am doing.

That said, if you're doing details of that duration, you'll be making at best $300/day doing 2 cars when you include travel time, which IMO isn't profitable once you factor in your time, fuel, materials, etc.

My (now) wife bought me a detail our first Christmas together, back when I had no driveway or garage (apartment living).

She paid $150 or $160, and got an interior and exterior hand wash and wax. I'm pretty sure there was no clay or polish for that price.

I personally wouldn't spend 4 hours on a car to earn $150. That being said, I'd definitely pay $150 for a quality job without hesitation.

Seems extremely cheap, dont sell yourself short. I get $35 from people in my neighborhood for a handwash and wax, dress tires and wipe down door jambs and clean and seal windows, no interior. It usually takes me about an hour and a half(am I extremely slow?). I would imagine if I were to do a full correction with clay it would be around 8-10 hrs depending on the amount of defects and size of car. I would think $30 an hour would be a good starting point. Also I dont advertise only word of mouth and referals. Hope this helped

$150-$175 seems to be typical around my way for a car of this size...

For that it seems more than reasonable, less than I would personally charge. With that said, I sure hope for your sake, and your clients sake, that you will have insurance coverage if working on cars other than your own.

true... but it's very difficult and those guys are pro's.. this guy is just starting out... he can offer an intro price but to tell people that is not the future of his business.. after they see the quality they will see if his work is worth the 300. most people would say your nuts to pay 300.. that is the sad truth.. most people don't get it and swirls and such are just how it is. most people willing to pay 300 have there own detailers so you have to get them over to you somehow and the intro price with the finished product doing all the talking should set you up nicely if you have the skill.

honestly, i wouldn't trust that detailer

Not because of the price at all because it's up to that person to charge whatever. It's the time that I'm worried about. There has to be at least three people working on the car at the same time to be able to do all that in 3-4 hours.

+1. 3-4 hours for all those listed items?

I would say 8 hours is more likely.

wash+dry = 45 mins
clay (entire car) = 1 hour
wash+dry = 30mins
compounding (depending on severity of damages) = 2-3 hours
wax or LSP = 45 mins

Unless I'm a special Olympian, that's what I average for a well-done detail.

and that's just the painted exterior surfaces...

Last time I had a car detailed professionally (and the place wasn't even that good -- I'm never going back), it was $100-ish for wash & wax, vacuum, upholstery cleaning, carpet shampoo, and misc interior cleanup that they whipped out in ~45mins. Clay, finishing polish, and "heavy" polish were all additional charges -- I think $50 each. There was also another upcharge to go from whatever crap they buy in 55-gallon drums to Zymöl... don't recall if that was charged separately for interior and exterior chemicals or not.

I'd say $150 for anything that involves more than a decent wash/vacuum/shampoo is a good deal. If you're actually polishing it's a steal.

There is no way you can do a quality "full detail" in 4 hours. It takes me at least 4 hours just to prep a car for paint correction. And that's without even touching the interior.

I have to agree to Ben, in fact, doing a full detailing with one person is impossible. To me, it is just a wash, clay, sealant and wax job plus interior, but NOT a full detail!

I've been doing full detailing by myself for years. It takes two days, but it is possible. I prefer working alone.

+1 thx don for the kudos

i agree it does take a while to do all the steps you guys are talking about

claying polishing waxing i guess iam pretty quick but like i said i have done full correction jobs that took me up to 7-8 hourse excluding interior that was on a ferrari f430 scudera(if iam spelling it right) the guy loved the work and was pretty amazed for 200 dollars he said it was better than a 400 dollar job he had done

btw iam just starting off with the detailing business thats why my price is so low i know SCHEERSPEED charges alot but his work is amazing and near perfect.
