2011 335i vs 2012 335i
I'll be honest and I do not know of all the details of the redesigned 2012 335i. Would you rather buy a 2011 335i now or buy a 2012 335i a year later? Logic being I prefer to save some money by buying a couple years old car. All I know is that the 2012 335i has the n55 engine (eco mode, sport, ectc) which is a single turbo and provides about 8% better fuel mileage. I intend on getting the car with all options but am not sure if there are significant technology/improvements in the 2012. Should get a 2012 or 2011? =)

Are you trying to decide between E90 (the old one) or F30 (the new one)? Or does your question just include the difference between N54 or N55 (bi- or single- turbo)???

If you are buying a sedan, get 2012 or later. The new design will help you sell it in a few years. For the coupe, there is no difference in looks, 2012 has the HK sound system, and BMW gave the n55 a small hp bump compared to the n55 in 2011. If you are getting the coupe, see how much discount the dealer can give you for 2011, it should be a lot, like 12k since 2013 are coming out.
The 2011 sedan does not have the n55 and will depreciate much faster since it will be an old generation. |

You really need to specify here... we can't read your mind.
Do you want a coupe or sedan? Based on the question it would seem as if you are choosing between an e90 or F30. If you are choosing e92s, there is no difference between a 2011 and 2012. They changed the design for 2011 with the slight body modifications and LED taillights, so whatever you feel works best for your warranty or wallet. |

thanks for the responses and I was looking at the 2011 335i sedan. After doing some more reading I did learn that the 2011 model has the n55 engine (but it is bi turbo and the new engine is single turbo)

sorry i meant to say single turbo. So i guess it comes to deciding between the old vs the new design. I am not too concerned with resale because i plan for keeping this car until it dies (i hope this wont break the bank). I had a 325i which i had for 8 years and 130k miles which was running strong until it got totaled in a car accident. I am considering a 2011 because i saw one with the msport package with cpo warranty.

Good choice the M-sport, I'm looking for one and found you can get one with about a $500-$1000 price difference. I think that is a $3200 pkg from dealer.
Does anyone know if the the 335is comes in a sedan, if so what year was it first out. |

Test drive both vehicles 2011 E90 335i vs. 2012-3 F30 335i.
I am still debating to trade mine in for 2013. With the F30, found the auto transmission very smooth, the steering is acceptable and it's a newer model that will hold value a little longer than the previous. Didn't like the glare on the nav screen and it's slightly bigger in dimensions. As previously mentioned, you might save some money by getting a 2012 now since the 2013s are rolling in. By now, the 2011 stock levels will be very scarce.

Other than that, the new model is growing on me. Maybe they's fix the screen during the mid cycle update |
