Engine Oil Level Low Light

So mine came on last night and I took it to the dealership and they put a quart of oil in it and i was on my way.

I got to thinking tho... why am I a quart low?!?!?

Here's my stats:
• car is just over a year old (october 6th was the 1 year anniversary)
• car has 5800 miles on it
• car is used as a daily commuter with combined in town and freeway miles

Is this normal to be a quart low based on the above info?

Yes...its normal. The most of us had this issue until the first 7k miles (at the most).

What oil are you using?

wonder how much of that quart would have ended up in an OCC

I'm using the BMW factory oil. Should i be using something different?

only 5800 miles after a year! and its a daily commuter! Get out and enjoy your car more! As for the oil, perfectly normal. This car eats up oil, I've had to add a quart here and there on both of the 335s I've had.

Just add 1 qt. of oil yourself or go to any BMW dealer and they'll add a qt. of oil for you @ n/c. The N54 engine is known to burn a little oil.

5800 miles with BMW factory oil?!?!?!?! OMG...change it now.

I stopped having oil consumption since I used Castrol Edge Sport 0-40
