Without a DPF it will behave like diesels of old. I imagine it will "smoke" all the time. I would expect to see an extra puff/cloud when you give it a bootful.

From what I have heard thats not the case (I hope)

If anyone has an evolve remap already and want DPF delete software please get in touch and we will sort out a special price for you. We are also working on getting the hardware (DPF delete pipes) made required.

The smoke is no more than a tuned BMW diesel that doesn't come with a DPF from the factory ie you get some under full load.

Not only are the usual issues related with the DPF removed, but there will also be more power available for those wanting it

nice one.

All in packages would be nice, knowing you can roll in somewhere get the pipe fitted and remap done at same time

You seen a 320d without factory DPF with re- map some?

It's unbelievable.

How does that work then..DPF traps the particulates that make up the smoke? my e46 320d was awful when you booted it...like an old french soot chucker!

I don't know myself I'm no expert of course, but am sure I will on Thurday evening.

The guys who do this professionally however must know what they are talking about, hence I quoted them, and I trust their knowledge.

don't worry about the smoke.......... cant say I have yet noticed a problem at all.

I tootle about all week in the traffic & the school runs & I'm sure that all that build up of soot for the week must come flying out the exhausts when some max accelleration is dialed in but can't say I have ever noticed.

Best time to tell would be at night looking in the rear view when someone is behind you with their head lights on & you boot it. If you do see smoke I bet it wont last or be much at all.

Happens on my van. I can drive around @ 50 + 60 for hundereds of miles / weeks on end (around 2k revs) & every now and then I thrash it in 4th ( 70 ++ ) to clear it & it smokes for about 5 seconds then thats it. I notice it in my van but not in my car.

£600 sounds better than the £1200+ bmw part
but when the likes of remaps are circa £300 or even sub (i think p torque offer at less at times), so paying close to £300-350 for the part is it value for money and is the map good compared to the more known used ones?

Its not just the part and map your paying £600 for though, its also the labour, have you seen where the DPF sits !!

Either way "for me" it is a good option, due to not doing enough long runs to clear the DPF etc - hence its blocked now.

I've also noticed over the last few months my tail pipes are black after a week, due to short runs, and of course a blocked DPF.

I'll "video" it once done, so you can see the "smoke" and make your own minds up, if your thinking about it.

Picked the car up earlier .......... My first words:

"Sh%t the bed"

As soon as I hit the open road after 5 mins of having it - I floored it in 3rd

I slowed down straight away ....... this car is different now !!!

Anyway I picked it up at around 1pm today, and as soon as I set of I felt it was different, it was actually a lot more "sensitive" on the throttle and felt more solid. It drives smoother, and is a true pleasure again.

Remap was done by these guys:
Viezu

The boss - Paul did it for me, and he spent some time with it to get it right.
While we where chatting outside he asked me if my remote could control the windows, ie up and down - I told him no, so he did it there and then in 2 mins for me whilst we drank coffee ... no charge, likewise with a "get you home" code .... which I think keeps the lights on for 15 secs while you get in the house ? Not sure as I have not heard of this before.

He also invited me to his place next month for a free Dyno, on his "Dyno Day".

Top Bloke.

Anyway, DPF Delete done, and no smoke to mention at all - that thing sure weighs a lot

It was choked with ash and soot on removal, and it was estimated to be at around 75% blocked.

They said at 82% Blocked it would go into limp mode, and 92% the car would not start.

At 75% blocked, like mine the warning light would be locked into the dashboard so clearing the ECU would not clear the warning light - so new software was required.

He even forced a regen somehow through the odometer reset / start button.

DPF Delete, was the best thing I have done with this car to date without a doubt, the remap compliments it very well, as he spent some time to get it right and there is no more smoke than before.

Anyway new map on, and I have to say WOW, the torque is immense, and quite hard to get used too, I think it will take some time to learn this car now, as it the traction control was flicking around a lot on the drive back in all low gears.

Managed around 120 miles today as I had to pop to a few places etc - so time will tell, but so far I am impressed, and glad I made the call to remove it.

catalyst element makes them heavy. I'm totally against DPF removal. It's about the future. Or really your kids' future.

You're right.

But when the time comes, I know which way I would go if it's a choice between £1,200 for a new DPF or £600 for a delete.

Have used some Autosol and elbow grease to give the exhaust tips a clean, first proper clean like this, probably needs another cleaning to get them just right.

Anyway I have a fair bit of driving this week, so will compare them then ?

Good plan.

I am guessing they will start to become blackened quite quickly without the DPF in place. Question: Are you running on regular or premium diesel?

At present Tesco regular with Millers additive, albeit 1/2 the dosage.

Interesting. I'm going to try out Shell V-Power I think. People report smoother/quieter running. Seeing as I'm in warranty I'm reluctant to use additives because I think BMW specifically stiplulate that additives are not to be used.
