My Jag would let you enter the full postcode directly. Very useful. Also grew used to the Nav Screen always displaying the name of the street you were on at the bottom of the screen. Have to squint at the iDrive map and try and guess which street I am on now by quickly looking for those little triangles

D.
If you set the assistance window to arrow view the forthcoming directions and the name of the current street / road will be displayed!

Yes, but in the Jag the name was always at the bottom of the screen even without a destination entered - even when just cruising around. Great to quickly glance to see what street/Motorway you are on.

Thanks to an initial set of files from NEEDFORSPEED, I'm using the 2007-1 with April Cams.

Works great! (for me I'd recommend a test using DVD-RW's then a slow burn of a DVD+R for quicker access)

That is the case with Tom Tom as well. The BMW Navteq system is far from perfect.

I just keep the iso on my hard drive and use a DVD+RW in the car.

When I update the files on the ISO I'll just overwrite the DVD+RW.

The technology used in RW and R formats is quite different and I believe RW degrades less over short time periods.

When I get a chance I will update to April 07 and post the newer files.

Meanwhile, just make an ISO of your disc and using an ISO editor (I use power iso) add the files following the instructions here:

http://www.bmwnavaddpoi.co.uk/imageway.htm

You need to burn your copy on slow speed (4x max) and ideally use a DVD+RW
I've been trying all day with varying degrees of success!!

I have just downloaded your zip and copied the files and it seems to work - but when I try to replace the 0099.idx & 0100.url with my own (updated camera data May 2007) the disc cannot be read!!
Any ideas?

Which download do you get from pocketgps.com - is it the ASC file?

Yes you want the .asc file from pocketgps.

I presume you ran the perl script to create the new .idx and .url files?

I'm wondering if you have windows explorer set to hide extensions for known file types. (tools, folder options, view)? This may have led you to misname the .url file

Have you tried another disc ... maybe a bad burn or bad media?

What are you using to burn the ISO - nero? DVD decrypter?

I need to update my files as well, so when I get a chance I will post some May 07 speed camera data.

I was looking for this thread !

I though about your post when driving along the other day. To achieve what you want you need to set your assistance window to vehicle position.

This will display lattitude and longitude (who cares) but also .. the name of the road you are on ... even if no destination is set.

I'm going to try some different makes of DVD Media to see if that helps.

What make do you use?

6 weeks is quick delivery. I have waited 13 weeks for mine
Good luck on Friday.

I pick up my car tomorrow (Thursday) from Brighton. It has Pro-Nav but I will still take my Garmin streetpilot with May 07 speed camera data with me. I want to help keep those pesky points at bay during the 400 mile round-trip to Holyhead.

Will definitely be hoping to create a custom nav DVD soon after also.

No haven't done it yet. Maybe this weekend.

I'm still on the 07/01 disc.

I had a go at this at the week end. signed up to pocket gps for £2 to get the latest maps and without too much effort managed to produce a working disc

It's great. there's a road near me that's great for some "spirited" driving, but there's a couple of cameras along it. It picks them all out perfectly

I'll post my updated files when I get back home

The pocketgps data is very accurate, well worth the cost.

I have just successfully created a 07-2 NAV disc with May speed cameras
I used the nero method:

http://www.bmwnavaddpoi.co.uk/neroway.htm

It seems to load as quick as the original DVD too

I used a Verbatim DVD+R 4x blank DVD and wrote to it at 4x

I have left my edited files for use in the 07-2 dvd here:

http://www.rhua.f2s.com/Rick/07-2 SC Files.zip

This should help speed up the process for anyone wanting to create a 'backup' 07-2 NAV disc.

Nav DVD with Speed cams and updated software

The software in my car (Nov 2005 build) has just been updated by the dealer while fixing an engine sensor problem. DVDs with the additional speed camera info worked fine prior to this, but aren't recognised now. The type of media used to create the disc makes no difference, but straight copies of an original disc work OK. Anyone else experienced this? It's hardly a problem that I can throw back at the dealer!

The new software has a slightly different look (including smaller, almost unreadable TMC icons on the map) and certain functions are presented a little differently.

Hi Victoria, Interesting situation - I am assuming that you had a modified DVD prior to the software upgrade by the dealer.

I wonder if the software upgrade that the dealer did to the car requires the latest DVD dataset?

I have DVD2007-2 and cannot make up my mind whether to modify it to in clude the yellow points of interest, or have myRoad Angel installed permanently into the car. I like to idea of in tegration, but I would also like an audible warning !!

My colleagues 07 plate e91 has the new idrive software and was delivered with the 07.01 nav disc.

His car cannot play my original modified 06.02 disc, but a modified 07.01 disc works fine (it also works in my car as well)

I'm guessing that you still have the 06.02 disc (or earlier) and that the new software doesn't like it.
