Awesome. I've been chomping at the bit to try out my SoloDL. I would love to compare data. I'm hoping it wont be too much longer.

I can't wait till BMW releases that track app for those with BMW apps!!!!

Hopefully it will be released before my track date in late August.

Had a great day yesterday even though the brakes were definitely leaning towards the end of their shelf life!!

Looking forward to August event with new slotted rotors, Pagid RS19 pads and springs

1m59's and 2m has become my norm, and managed a 1m58 in the last session.

Awesome. Some nice times. What tires and pressures (hot front/back) are you running?

Make sure you check that entry on 4. I know it's a good line. The line is fast (very late braking), it's a nice alternative... But I think it isn't the best way through, just a good alternative for a very unconventional (in race situation) pass attempt. If you take the middle entry (what I was doing) and depending on grip, you might get a better feel through 4 and 5.
I guess it depends on the car and setup, but it my case the tight line going into 4 is the faster one by about 0.4 seconds on average. It is amazing how fast I catch up to other cars using this line, it is almost surreal.

Even if you carry less velocity, you have so much less ground to travel that you are faster through. Further, you don't really need to carry a lot of speed out of 4 because 5 is so close.

The tight line is much hairier because the braking zone is so short. Just make sure you brake in a straight line.

Hey Canaut. I ended up leaving Thursday that's why I didn't come find you to get my friend a spin.

I got her a spin in Andre's car (I believe that's his name) that has the GT3RS. She loved it but around the 5'th lap she got a bit dizzy. She started looking at his speedo instead of the road to see how fast they were going and that got her dizzy.

You there next month for the 2 day in August? If you are I'll ask Henry to match me up with you since we have the same car.

While I sort out my engine rebuild I thought I would prepare for my upcoming vacation time. I've been quietly and slowly prepping a plug to make my mold for a first gen resin injection carbon fiber diffuser. Need to rent a compressor to apply mold release agent and tooling gel and I will be set. More garage space would be great too. I'll post the video on youtube later next week. Completed plug:

Quite impressive Nick, great driving! With those great lap times, I wonder whether the top speeds recorded/shown are understated somewhat! If they are correct (the top speed) then you must be flying through the corners and/or accelerating at quite a rapid pace out of the bends.

It's known that Harry's Laptimer is only good for lap times. Don't look at the speeds shown.

yeah but you've HAD your car for how long? I haven't even had mine for a year my 335 had reached a plateau that I was almost happy with, and here we go again. sigh. not a power upgrade this time, but one I've always wanted on the 335 and never did. getting installed next week so bogie will happen without it.

why not - because of the slow GPS? just hook up an external GPS sensor then, should be easy - 80-90 bucks.

Well... since none of you slackers are coming to bogie today, off I go...

In your 1 year ownership of the R you have modded it a zillion times more than I ever did over 6 years, here you go

Bogie with what gang? Viper?

hey guys, i have one Calabogie track day spot up for grabs. i got this as part of the group buy organized by Sawzall and Jaypod (the toronto track nuts). unfortunately i don't think i will be able to make it to CMP this season due to some unforeseen circumstances.

i am going to let it go for less than the group buy price (which was already excellent!!). pm me if anyone is interested and i'll send more details.

you can also reach me by email:

yep viper. i was going to say "hey, at least i don't have a boost gauge!" and then realised that one of my mods outputs all engine parameters into the car's central console (it's a new menu that gets added where you can see engine temp, coolant temp, intake air temp, boost, number of wheels still attached, etc.). pretty neat. so i guess i give up.

a great day was had by all. because not many people showed up, we were less than 20 per group on the track... and at 5kms, that means not too much traffic. so the organisers said hell, to fill the track, feel free to lap with the lower groups. so considering they always do :00 for pro, :20 for advanced and :40 for intermediate/beginner, i was lapping 30-40 mins per hour. that was a LOT of track time.

i haven't been THIS lost on a track since the first watkins glen visit. haha. this track is confusing. i was doing 3:45 laps but i lapped with both advanced and beginners early on, so at some point it started to sink in. picked up on a few sections (never thought i'd have the balls to do #2 and #3 sequentially with the pedal to the floor, but hell, the R holds it together), so i finished the day around 2:35 - 2:37.

carbotechs held up SPECTACULARLY. holy shit. no fade, and even when i screwed up #5 and approached at 205, which was probably just a touch too quick, they held together and i didn't even touch the grass. got lucky there. hehe.

ate my front left tire, though. i guess i will rotate rear and front for tremblant... my fronts are almost oval now around the edges!

also learned an important lesson: that when a BMW chokes on hard acceleration, flog the stupid thing and keep flooring it (this is based on previous experience). however, when a normal car chokes on hard acceleration, check the fucking fuel gauge, there's probably a very good reason there somewhere. had 4L of fuel left at the end of one session, that was pretty lucky. :P
