Conservative 328 mods
Gents, the time has come to start modding my 328. I've been searching, looking, reading, watching all of the threads and vids on the subject. I'm not looking at going wild. I don't need a loud induction noise coming from under the hood or crackling exhaust anymore. In fact given that I often drive busniess clients to meetings and lunches, I prefer to keep things nice and quite. I was hoping to get some info/advice. I prefer to go the OEM Performance route being that I have an extended warranty. With all that in mind:
Is the OEM perf intake worth it or would I be better just getting some scoops and a drop in filter ie K&N or AFE dry core. Is the OEM Perf exhaust really as loud as the vids show? Or do some of you delete the resonator(s) also. I know they have minimal gains, its a filter not a supercharger!, but any advice/info would be appreciated. Thanks PS: I've been doing this for a while now.

If you want an intake, go with injen intake.

My combination is, injen intake, hamann resonator and remus powersound muffler. The car fells a lot better and sounds almost OEM. If you want to keep it quiet, thats my recommendation.
Here is a video, windows up camera in my lap, the sqweaky noise are my wet shoes against the rubber in the pedals. It was raining hard.

I would say the sound is a little more aggressive and the throttle response is a little better. Actual performance gains are minimal. |

The bmw performance exhaust does delete the resonator.

As far as intakes concerned, bmw performance intake is a lot quieter than the injen intake. I had the injen intake for about 6 months before I switched to the performance.
For the exhaust, the performance exhaust is a slight increase over stock from inside the cabin and it can be pretty loud when the engine is cold. I wouldn't even think about getting a muffler delete, the performance exhaust is a lot quieter. Maybe if you could get just the muffler from the performance exhaust and keep the resonators, you could see a slight gain over stock?
