ctuna,
Not a Bass head particularly. Going for crisp and clean mainly. This setup is a heavily powered 8" ported. (Save space weight and size in previous MINI) It's funny. Was at a local BMW meet today and talking about my install. They said, you have 2 8's under your seat and I was shocked. I appreciate the advice and I think it's time to go Amp/speakers for both like you said. Truth is I'd be happy with some strongly clean powered 6.5" down there firing up. This 8" hits like my 10-12's did in SUV's minus super subsonic because of the setup. 1.04cf and 350w. Thanks man!

Jehnerts XE 200's are best for the price.

They are true audiophile speakers. Many people feel they are enough but you need a decent amp to power them. You need to start reading those links especially the audio build thread. The Hi fi amp is weak and the OEM speakers are cheap. Last edited by ctuna; 08-04-2014 at 01:12 AM.. |

I will definitely check those out. I do have 2 new ELF Audio amps. A Mono sub amp (using) and a 4 ch. That I don't have specs in front of me.
Another question. Where do you prefer tapping into the signal. I am nervous about splicing into wires on the factory amp to get signal. I know on this forum I can find it but I am hoping there is an area before the amp.

What the last guy said.

No need to cut anything. If you have an amp that accepts balanced inputs nothing else is needed. The factory amp and its mounting bracket gets removed. The preferred amp for a Hi Fi system is a Jl xd600/6 it fits in the stock location and interfaces perfectly with the stock Head Unit. And its high quality. First thing it says in the audio build thread is no cutting or splicing. |

Has anyone powered the MB Quart 200.3 set with either the L7 or MS-8? Specifically curious about the fronts as I have an amp for the underseats. But also curious how the underseats sound with some power in comparison to the stocks.

The underseats definitely require good aftermarket power in order to play cleaner and with more authority - this is true for bother the MB Quarts and the OEM stock woofers. You will miss out big time if you use the OEM amp or the MS-8. I would recommend no less than 75W per channel. The more the better, really, as long as you use the power responsibly, the extra headroom can really pay off.

Thanks. Do you think I am better off just getting some really nice underseats, say the Jehnerts, since I have enough power there? I think my biggest issue with my current setup (L7, added front center tweet, added JL XD 400/4 to the underseats) is the SQ of the underseats. I don't plan on adding a trunk sub so I want some versatile underseats.

Things are finally happening with my car audio.
I put in the new N6 unit from Dynavin. Now I am going to step it up a bit. I'm going for a high-end setup with great sound. I have the Base setup now. The market for car sound is pretty bad in Norway. But I found a dealer with XD 600/6 for 6000 NOK, just under $1000. Expensive, but if I need it OK. Do I need the MS8 when I have dynavin N6? |

No. The Dynavin has time correction built-in. Measure the distance from the tip of your nose when in the driver's seat to each driver and then enter the distance into the time correction screen.

Can you buy the underseat enclosure without the speaker attached? If so, what is the part number, as i'm having trouble locating it.

In the sedan I believe the rear doors have the same depth as the fronts. Don't expect too much impact/improvement for the sound in the front though, these speakers only make an improvement in the rear seats. That's why most people don't bother upgrading them.

I have the sedan with the base audio. The speakers are in the rear deck. Oh, I only planned on using them for the kids. Just looking for a cheap upgrade.
