Well, not a suspension component, but hey, I need to start thinking about doing more to stop the car, right?

On the lift at VAC Motorsports.

FYI. My car ride height is about stock, possibly just a smidgen lower from the base model non-sports suspension. And I run square. As I may have mentioned before, I think when I installed the Bilstein B6 it ran just slightly higher, and now it is back down to where it was originally or maybe slightly lower.

Great pics!!!

Ok, so when I first got into dFans beast I completely expected a roll-free road hugging super3, t I was not at all expecting it to ride more comfortably and fluidly than my stock msport ride.

DFan and I have the same winter tires on our cars and I drove on the same terrible Rockville roads in both cars. Body roll was next to nil and the car felt much more planted. On acceleration and deceleration, there was significantly less front-to-rear rock, and the floaty feeling on acceleration was completely gone. On acceleration around a bend, TC kicks in much later than with my non-LSD ride. The car communicates traction and road surface very clearly.

What shocked me is that it does all this and it SIGNIFICANTLY more comfortable than my stock 335d. The same potholes and uneven road surfaces that made me wince and cringe before/after hitting them were silky smooth in dFans ride. The system as a whole is somehow more communicative and more comfortable than stock...simply amazing.

...Only problem is that I've already been to two speed shops since the ride...and so the conversion begins...

Question for you FR, is the ride height higher than the M-Sport D?

I have been patiently waiting for the snow to melt, but alas it is still here and more snow to come this weekend. I am looking to do coilovers this year but it is not warm enough yet to get me in the mood to purchase anything yet.

FR did a great job of summarizing the public street aspects of the new handling. As I hoped he would. So let me say that it is a blast to drive now. It was before, but now it handles the way a so-called ultimate driving machine should. It demands to be pushed hard. It goes where you point it, right away. I would say it is about base model suspension height, roughly. Will measure again in a couple of weeks. I expect it will be a great track car, but even if it never saw another track it would be worth it to me. Tonight at the Columbia NCC social I told a couple of M3 guys I wanted them to drive it after I get my summers on, just so I can get their impression.

The middle (12/24) is good all around.

Try them at 6/24 (soft), then try it with 20/24 - so you know their capabilities. Every click is noticeable with these JRZ's.

Dumb question alert. --- is toward "1" the hard direction and "0" toward soft?

I should have clarified - turned all the way towards the "-" is full soft. There are 24 clicks total on the RS1. The car should feel much more taut towards full stiff.

Update - Turning the JRZ RS1 to Soft End

OK, update for you softies out there.

I have been riding at 12 of 24 all the way around with the JRZ RS1 settings. So today, with my little wife in the car, I turned them all down to 6. Drove a little city streets, some brick, some usual crummy roads, but also US 50 and another smoother thoroughfare.

1. Still no wallowing at higher speeds. I got up to 80 or 85 and went over some bumps and depressions.
2. I took one of my favorite left-handers at a reasonably good clip, well, faster than everybody else. It is a bumpy turn with with some small holes that can upset your equilibrium in the turn. Anyway, I couldn't detect much in the way of increased body roll at all, and the usual bumps were not as noticeable.
3. OK, having said #1 and #2, let me say that it is smoother all around. There is less feel of every little nuance of the pavement surface, but not really in a bad way. I don't personally prefer it, but I know my wife did and your average passenger would also. I think I would set it down at 6 or so if I were driving interstates across country.
4. Doesn't seem to dive any more on hard braking, but honestly I didn't do much of that.
5. The turn-in didn't seem as crisp to me; the steering response is there, but there is not the instant response sense. Maybe it was psychological.

OK. Tomorrow I will be alone in the car to church since my wife takes her little SUV separately, so I am going the hard direction and all four corners are now set at 20. Stay tuned.
