In your display you have the set speed for the cruise control displayed.
What is the coding option for that?

TEMPOMAT_SETZ_ANZ_DAUER set from wert_01 to wert_02 in your KOMBI module.

Even motorcycle speeds on a '73 R75/5 were possible at cruising from Frankfurt to Munchen at 150-170 kph. As you said, I could drive from Basel to Wiesbaden going mostly 150-160 kph average. The interesting thing was, while going that fast in my little 2002, the really fast cars at the time (Lambos and Ferraris) would start flashing the lights from way back, and then blow by me like I was crawling. Great fun. For the most part, US drivers have never been taught to drive safely in an environment like that with such great variations of speed, and their mentality for lane control is not very disciplined at all. Oh well, it is what it is. Now just great memories.

P.S. I only visited Heilbronn one time as my main workings were from south of a line that stretched from maybe Trier to Nuremburg. Not too much north of that line except for one trip to Heilbronn and one to Hamburg and when traveling to the Netherlands.
Yes, I know what you mean .

You're right, it is totally different driving style in Germany / Austria / Switzerland. Many people from different countries don't know how to behave on Autobahn what is really irritating.
No speed limits on about 25% of Highway roads are only in Germany and I'm glad of that. You know that Autobahns are really safe, and even without speed limits there is less accidents than anywhere? Only Greenpeace is pissing me off because they say that to much CO2 is generating to atmosphere when cars are driving faster . I hope it will not be here the speed limit because of this :/.

I have a question, carbon build up? When people talk of this I assume they mean intake valves? I thought it was injectors blowing by as Mercedes suffered terribly with this!

How ever if they do this what's the best way of getting it out? Thought on this as I might do mine at some point just to check it, it's remapped and dpf delete also but I do drive pretty fast and use most of the throttle every journey!

If you remove the DPF and get a remap, you almost certainly gets more power and more torque. I got aprox 40Hp and 60Nm more. Same fuelconsumption as before :-)
I jumped from aprox 267hp to 307hp ;-)

hey man, just wanted to let you know that having my DPF removed and remapped is the best choice ive made with my ride. fuel consumption gone up, throttle response is crazy, defiantly a win, win situation.

I have 2006 330xd with 175.000km (108k miles).
DPF was removed and the car was remapped to 272hp and 628nm of torque by the previous owner, not me. I'm experiencing rare clutch slipping in high speeds at high gear so I think it's life is coming to the end (1st clutch). I was thinking of replacing it with a brand new one and we have a specialised shop here that modifies clutch and adds a layer of carbon to it, which prevents it from future slipping (bulletproof). After that I think the car could handle a bit more power, huh?

Questions for the 330d pre-facelift owners:

What sort of issues should one be aware of when looking at these cars?

How severe is carbon build up usually, and what can be done about it?

Reliability, turbo, injectors, etc?

I think it is time for me to move over to the "dark side" - have always loved diesels just BTW...

The car I am looking at is a 2007 E90 330d M Sport 6MT (prefer manual cars) and has 111k km on the clock - hoping to take a look at it this week. Being a manual gearbox and an M Sport it is pretty rare over here, so really hoping that it is in good condition!

Hi all
Can somebody explain to me what is the DPF removal

And how you do that..

Also, any positive or negative experience after that mode?

PS.
When I saw one of my friend done the exhaust mode, now he have smoky ass and it's make his car dirty all the time..

I try to fit performance exhaust but the BMW guys told me it's stupid with diesel.. as well as air filter mode.. "it wont help"

Egor what we mean by DPF Rmoval is either replacing the DPF with a downpipe or gutting out the DPF insides. Make sure you hv the DPF also removed on your ecu/dde. AS far as intake use an airscoop a la Cyba Scoops or something familiar as far as exhaust system I cannot say much

Hi all,

Am I being paranoid or does the 330d have a noisey idle? It just seems louder than I think it should? Everything else seems fine, mpg is good, performance is good. It's a 2007 330d estate.

Cheers

Quite normal in a diesel. Dont worry about it unless youre feeling like rough idling etc. but since performance is good and MPG is fine you should be set to sail.

Its been a while since I've been on here.
Its a real Shame the nutcrackers banned Mr Singh. I suspect from Evolve tuning?
The performance figures he seems to have obtained are pretty damn impressive.
I had no luck getting my Subaru specialist tuner to look into tuning my 330d - no surprises there I guess.
Finally turned to a company local to me in Western Sydney who installed a european import tuning box - which only really modifies one parameter which is fuel rail pressure. I took it back to my friends at a garage in Auburn and played around with the settings on the dyno the figures were inconsistent but overall the tuning box conferred a modest advantage over stock. Its now set to a more conservative setting to preserve the fuel rails and injectors. Performance increase is curiously much more tangable with DTC turned completely OFF. I've managed to pull 0.72Gs on a brake boosted start in 1st, and allday everyday 0.65Gs (as registered on OEM BMW Performance Steering wheel).
I'm now waiting for my friends at BMR Autowerks in Sydney to do a full open ECU tune which should yield similar results to Mr Singh hopefully. I'll keep this thread posted about what happens. Should be interesting...

To address question from our european friend about DPF delete - did this about 4 months ago and loving it!!!!!
DPF delete makes the exhaust note tangibly raspier but occasionally when it goes into 'regeneration mode' or ambient air is moist/humid or raining it gets pretty loud and proud!! - Turbo spool and whistle is much louder especially when blipping the throttle in 'M2' at creep speed and in an enclosed carpark = heaven.
Smoking is occasionally an issue but has alot to do with fuel quality I think. Current tank of stove oil - minimal smoke - 4 fills ago had a bad batch and that was quite smokey. But overall if you drive it hard in general the smoke/suit stays outta the system anyhow. My car is Alpine white and the rear bumper was covered in diesel suit from day dot anyway and now without the DPF delete it gets covered in a fine layer of suit a little bit quicker... So what? Its a diesel!!!

I love the 330d engine one big turbo giving on demand turbo lag = lots of tyre smoke, neck snapping, whiplash inducing torque waves and still epic fuel economy to boot! What more could you ask for... The everyday Uberwagon.

This is so true! I got a manual and its great. City/urban driving it get under 6.5l/100 all the time, over 36 mpg. At speeds of 70-100 I get to 5-5.5l/100,
about 45 mpg.

And when you want to have fun just press the pedal

Have you had your car on a roling road?
And have you had other modifications done besides dpf delete?

Hahaha yeah some insane fuel economy can be achieved with only occasional lead footedness. I don't quite know how accurately this translates to mpg but I managed almost 1100Km of fairly flat highway driving on one tank of premium diesel thats 60L. Just epic. I think thats about 50+mpg!!!!
