Car with HALF-Comfort Access?

I was at the dealership and met someone there with a 328i who was having a conversation with the parts guy there about comfort access.

His car was ordered without comfort access. However, he can still start the car without the key. So I went with him to his car to see what he's talking about.

- his door handles do NOT have ridges on them, they are regular door handles. he still needs his key fob to lock/unlock the car.
- he can start the engine without the key
- we put his keys in the trunk and closed the trunk. (he had a spare key in his wallet), the car beeped and the trunk unlocked again.
- his keys themselves do NOT have a removable battery that I can see. It has to be charged in the socket.

How is this possible?

I thought the keys were different for CA? I can understand maybe they screwed up and put some type of CA module in the car and it is activated, but it still shouldn't work with the stock keys... or am I wrong??

I wouldn't mind not needing the key fob to start the car.

I don't believe him being able to start it without the key, unless you do the start/stop, remove key, start again without opening the door.

As for the trunk, it's a feature so you cannot lock your keys in the car.

Lock car, push trunk button on remote, put keys in trunk, close it. Car will automatically unlock.

CA keys look exactly the same.

Comfort access keys have remove battery, Non-Comfort Access don't and charge in the key slot

no I saw him start the car without using the fob. If what you say about the trunk is true I guess the ignition is possible too. There is obviously a sensor in the trunk for the key, BMW must have messed up his order and added the ignition sensor too.
