M1 Gantry Cameras - BE CAREFUL!!!!!
I was in a convoy of around 20 RS's on the way up to Silverstone on Sunday and i fear i/we may have been flashed by a section of brand new cameras on the M1 between M25 and Luton BEFORE the average speed camera section.
I dont use the M1 that often but usually when i do i blast onto the M1 from the M25 junction and pretty much nail it (71 mph!!!) right up until i get to the average speed camera section. Having done a little bit of research the RS boys think that apparently this new section of cameras doesnt come into effect until Nov this year BUT one of the cars in our convoy said he definitely saw one of the cameras flash - so i guess its a wait and see time!!! Just wanted to make others aware of these cameras because as you will see from the pics below, the nazi gimps have coloured them the same bland grey as the gantrys - nice!! So there could very well be about 20 new MK2 RS's for sale in a few weeks time!!!!

Thanks for the heads up Steve...it was always a matter of time before they made use of that new infastructure on the M1. Concerningly I always thought those type of cameras only worked when a speed limit was showing.
Hope you don't get a ticket! |

Just reading this, becuase I'm just down the road from it.
http://www.kentonline.co.uk/kentonli..._into_for.aspx Would appear the M25, M42 and now the M20 only have cameras that can result in a NIP |

They have these exact same cameras between J4a & J6 on the M6. I often travel that way at night & sometimes when there's 2 lanes shut due too roadworks, the temporary speed limit is 20mph. Ive lost count how many accidents have almost occurred because drivers are braking from 70 to 20. It's ridiculous

I usually always blank it out but there are probably the odd occasion its slipped through. That said my distinctive private plate has not been shown on car. Either way its worth just covering yourself - plod can be sneaky little f@@kers when they want to!

Personally if the gantrys are displaying a reduced speed and someone gets caught then tough it serves them right, however if the display is blank then the cameras should be de-activated.

Totally agree fella. Displays were definitely blank - i always adhere to the illuminated limits - guess its a waiting game.

I've been flashed on the M25 when the signs weren't illuminated, never heard anything (if that's any consolation).

I think the rule on cameras being painted bright colours has gone and they can be bland grey. The speed camera sign has to be displayed along the route for them to be used!
