Received my Mtec 6000K D1S bulbs from Derrick@E92-Lighting and installed one of them right away.
Driver's side xenon = Mtec 6000K D1S Passenger's side xenon = stock 4350K D1S 6000K is alot whiter than the stock bulbs with a little bit of blue hue to it. It looks 10000x better than stock. Please keep in mind that the headlight angle is off so the driver's side light look brighter in some pics. Last edited by lyjw88; 04-30-2009 at 05:04 PM.. |

How much light output is lost with these lights? Someone asked me if the light output loss is great. From your last pic lyjw88 it does seem like there is some lighting output loss. I like my DS1 6000k's btw!

It does look a little dimmer as far as output to the ground on those 6000's, but I'm wondering myself if its attributed to the fact that the OP(on those pics) said the headlight was angled up a bit.

You are correct. The driver side angle is way up that's why it looks dimmer on the ground. I didn't notice any light output loss so far. I'll delete that comparison pic because it might discourage other potential buyers.

By using MTEC aftermarket bulbs, do they light up the road better then stock xenons? I know people like to change the temp of the bulbs to help match their other lights but besides cosmetics, what are the advantages of running aftermarket bulbs?
Really sorry if this is a newb question. |

Changing out to an MTEC bulb puts out a better color than stock, non-yellowish. MTEC only uses high-quality GE burners, OE equipment just like Philips. Not that generic, max production stuff made elsewheres

IMO it was very noticable on my first evening drive with them. Visibility was definitely better as well!

how does everyone feel about the fit and finish of the Mtecs? how do they feel vs. the oem bulbs? I want to go to 6000k but reluctant to buy a pair of inferior parts and am thinking I may go osram instead........
