DPs are a great upgrade but i cant see why you should beggin with those over a reflash/piggyback. This is hwo you get the big HP , DPs ,exhausts, DCIs ,IC are just "fine-tunnings" giving you small bits of power every time

I would imagine it would be just fine and yes, I think you would get a bit of power as well, maybe 20hp or so? I'm guessing it would be enough to feel, but it won't be a huge difference.

when i was reading up on them some forum members had said that RR dps werent making much gains over stock. Not to mention their customer service is suppose to be poor which doesnt apply to this case cuz its not a vendor buy. But ive only heard good from ARs DPs. Now in all fairness whether those poor increases were to improper install to exhaust leaks. we wouldnt know unless we were there. But im just goin by what i read and passing on info. if u havent different experience please do share.

Most people proclaim to feeling an improvement with downpipes.....much better throttle response etc.

But your question is a good one because there has been a lot of dialogue on these forums about how the ECU induces throttle closure when it senses boost above target loads.

As such, the current tunes have addressed this very issue and minimizing unneccessary throttle closure is an integral part of their programming for more power.

Without a tune to manage this, you are probably going to notice some improvement, but you might not be reaping all the full benefits of downpipes if the ECU is limiting torque via throttle induced boost regulation.

There is some history to this and you can start at these links:

Most importantly, realize that you will need O2 simulators if you are going to run catless DP's... and like others have said there might be some power there but it won't be utilized nearly as well without a tune of some sort. Can you install these yourself? Buying DP's for $200 can end up still costing you $600 or so by the time you install them and buy O2 sims, etc.

I think for a stock car with no tune an exhaust is going to be more enjoyable, if you are looking for some sound and power.

Good luck

I dissagree!! Riss racing down pipes are installed on the fastest 135 (Terry Burger's) and he wouldn't be using them if they weren't getting him any gains.
I have personally dealt with Riss Racing and their customer support and service is great! I also have their products and have nothing but good to say about them!
