DVD playing on Professional Radio

I have done a search on this subject and not found any discussions.

Does anyone know if the Professional Radio can read and play DVDs? I can successfully play MP3 burned CD-R discs but wonder if the software in the radio can read and play DVD-R discs. I believe that the iDrive player can read and play DVD discs.

Thanks

Wallyf

The regular radio player is a CD player and can only read CDs. The navigation player is a DVD player and can play both CDs and DVDs.

i would love to see someone mod the car to play DVDs. that would be AWESOME . i am not saying i want to watch them while driving necessarily, but just being able to pop one in would be so great. someone should figure out how to do this.

This would be great to play DVD-Rs containing MP3s.
I don't have iDrive on my e90 so my Professional Radio can only play CDs.
It's frustrating that many inexpensive aftermarket car CD players can play DVD-Rs but the BMW "Professional" (?) Radio cannot. Why not just make all CD players in BMWs read DVD-R? It would increase the cost of the car by what, $30 (or less)?

You can buy a 8GB USB flash drive for like 40 bucks or even less and use it if you have the usb port in your 335. It beats using cd's and dvd's.
