nice job. the anthracite, brushed steel, darker grays etc. are the way to go with the 1080 stuff for a classy contrast.

i personally did anthracite cf because i happen to really like the check pattern against the other flat finishes.

oh, and yeah my thumbs fucking hurt after 5 hours of straight wrapping LOL

Put some on the sandal as well?

Like the results (all of them posted).

And people need to take a magic eraser to their shiny (dirty with oil) steering wheels. When you see the water afterwards, you'll thank me.

Thanks.

The only real tips I have I wrote underneath the pictures. Take your time, find the DIY's on here on how to remove the panels, start in the rear, always leave a solid inch or two off each edge when applying, and be patient. Oh and an extra pair of hands helps when applying. You'll see when you get there.

I did not wrap my roof, however I know it can be used on the exterior.

How did it turn out?

I wrapped my E60 a couple weeks ago in brushed steel and love it. Previously I had 3M CF Dinoc. It was time for change.

Wow...it looks even better on than I thought. I received my order a few days ago, however they cut the grain wrong - or at least not what I expected. Its not "long ways" so-to-speak so I need to have it returned.

Bummer...

Looking at your pics, it seems that the edges of vents are not well made. Is it pics or true? Because I'm afraid this vinyl doesn't bend well on curve surfaces, don't know even if the heating it up will help. For this reason CF fabric is better.

It does look great however.

looks good, but might need to take a heat gun to some of the vent corners.

the 1080 is a real bitch to lay flat around tricky corners. lots of pulling and smoothing. but it does eventually work. just need patience.

never worked with the DiNoc.

the 1080 has the look, but it feels thin. i wouldn't expect it to last long, especially on the exterior.

either way, keep in mind that it's nowhere near real trim.

Yeah the corners are definitely imperfect, being my first time I found corners to be pretty tricky. I'll try to heat them up.

i have tried this same thing and will post pics
Had to do centre console again as cut to much of around the idrive controller and the shift lever.
Very hard around the vents and the ends of the long trim to get it smooth
Not perfect and will have to redo it i think.
Broke one of the clips near the centre vents that has the 2 bolts holding in place so buying a used wood grain trim to wrap that.
And yes i will get a second person to help me this time
Its hard heating, smoothing, pulling all at the same time

I'm going to wrap my trim soon but I haven't 100% decided on a colour yet. Your looks fantastic in anthracite gloss. It's by far the nicest colour wrapped trim I've seen so far. It's a shame it isn't available here in the UK.

Not available? I'm sure you can find a seller that'll ship to you internationally.

Here you go --

Yes I can get it shipped over but what I ment was nobody over here sells it so I can't get a sample or anything to see it first hand. I can only go off photos.

I've already priced it up and it would cost $40 delivery, plus import tax costs on top of the price of the vinyl to get it shipped over to me within 10 days. I've ordered some different coloured samples of scotchprint which are available over here to buy. If non of those seem right I will order the anthracite gloss.

Have you called vinyl shops and asked if they had it? It doesn't seem feasible that a world-wide company like 3M would be present in the UK.

I've contacted a few shops with no luck also 3m directly. My reply from 3m was:

Hi Dan,

The G201 is not currently available in the UK, it's for the US market. *While a lot of the vinyl is made in Japan the Americans seem to have their own plant for some products. *I know the UK are looking to bring more of the range in but it's not likely to be soon.

We do have access to the USA though, you need to jump through a lot of hoops to do the import, but we can get it. *Thing is it'd need to be a big quantity to make it worth your while, the air freight, duties and handling fees all add up.

Let me know if you need further information or if you want us to see what is the closest UK product.

Thanks,

Chris
