I have not put the car on the dyno yet. Timing hasnt worked out. I will put it on the dyno before the headers are installed to get a baseline. Sorry its taking me so long.

So the car made 10hp less and the same torque. I was super bummed...then I got home and looked at the results and realized that my first baseline run was set to STD correction and today was done as SAE. Looks like I should have paid better attention. Called the guy back to ask if I could run once on the prev STD setting for better comparison. I'll update if this is an option. Not really a point in posting this graph until then.

Looks great, especially what AA tune did with the dip. Are you on the offroad tune? What options?

As far as SAE vs STD. isn't there a factor # to do the conversion?

If you get the data file, you can change the scale between STD and SAE in the Viewer software.

SAE was lower than STD by up to 8 hp on my dyno chart

EDIT: SAE factor conversion

Because the reference conditions include higher pressure and cooler air than the SAE standard, these corrected power numbers will always be about 4 % higher than the SAE power numbers. Friction torque is handled in the same way as in the SAE standard.""

So if mine was STD, it would be 198x1.04= 205.92 HP...So looks like you have roughly +5 HP?
Your max of 194 HP SAE *1.04 = 201.76 HP in STD
How does that compare to your STD result?

Standard tune for 3 stage manifold and intake only. The exhaust is stock.

Conversion is between 4-5%

Previous was 206hp 187ft.lbs.
Close on HP and a gain of about 10ft.lbs.

As the car sits its identical if not slightly better than a steptronic 330i. (my car is also a steptronic)

I have a 130i and obviously has the euro box. Based on this evidence I think i wont find any gain out of this AFE setup other than induction noise and may be some hp less. Can anyone comment? Is it To better leave the oem euro box i currently have?

In my opinion, you should only be looking at the OEM performance intake if you are looking to upgrade from the euro box. It has a larger snorkel for increased intake side. I have the standard US box, and for the money, will likely install a euro box before looking at an AFE solution. If I can be patient, I will get the PI.

Thanks, I appreciate the comment. I think I knew it but you know the mod bug bites and you want to buy "upgrades" just because. LOL.

I have the Eurobox with the Dry AFE filter vs regular OEM. Others on babyBMW use the euro BMW performance intake filter, K&N euro or Pipercross. BabyBMW users didnt like oiled filters.

You can find gaisn with a modification to euro box in the style of Simota or even GruppeM, called Intake mod on Baby BMW originated by evoglyn.

Ingen intake is another option, it comes with dry option. It is an open filter intake. The open vs closed debate seems to favour closed or long tube open intake( we have no room for one)

Thanks for the tips. I found the topics you referenced on babybmw but don´t feel sure about cutting off my box as they are expensive. I currently have the oiled K&N and have not had issues at all. I will do a maf clean sometime soon though.

I think I will leave the OEM box with the filter I have and save for the Evolve R Tune. I won't see as good gains as you did but according to them I should see another 15 horses. If I can hit the 280 mark I am more than happy. I already have the BMW PE specific to the 130i and with the resonator delete is sounds wonderful.

Got this box in, waiting on AFE to send me a new lid(one of the holes doesn't match up with the box) and for my family to go on vacation so I can take the time to install it myself at the hobby shop. I really hope it gives me some decent gains on an otherwise stock N51 E90. Thinking of doing a baseline dyno before doing the install and then another to see if there was an improvement. I was able to pick it up for $450 from the same eBay vendor.

+1
After reading this post, I pulled the trigger and installed it today with the oiled filter instead of the ProDry.
Like was Johnny D said the Sound is unbelievable and I do feel a bit of gain. The only negative was the install, it was an easy process but fitting the boot did consume much of my time. For this being my first performance mod, this was money well spent.
