Use leftover equipment from previous car in L7 upgrade?

I have a 2011 E92 with HK/L7. It sounds pretty good for a stock system, with all windows up and the sunroof closed. I feel it could be better with the windows down or at higher volumes. I was able to pull a lot of the equipment from the aftermarket system in my previous car, and got to thinking it would be great back-for-the-buck if I could re-use some of the components in a clean L7 upgrade. Here's what I have:

PPI PCX-480 4 Channel Amp
JL Audio G1300 Monoblock Amp
JL Audio 10W1V2-4 (in carpeted trapezoidal enclosure)
Dynaudio 8" Mid/Woofer Pair (Left the tweeters in the old car because they were glued in).

Any of the experienced folks out there have any good ideas on how I could make use of this equipment in my stock L7 system? Amp the stock underseat subs maybe? Looking forward to hearing your creative ideas!

Not sure about the specs but maybe you can use this to drive a front stage....amp the tweeters, mid-range drivers in the doors, and power the underseats.

The tweeters/door speakers are in series so they would use 2 channels and the underseats would use the other 2 channels.

JL Audio 10W1V2-4 (in carpeted trapezoidal enclosure)

I think the L7 system lacks bass....so this will definitely help round out the system.

Dynaudio 8" Mid/Woofer Pair (Left the tweeters in the old car because they were glued in).

How tall are these? They may fit into the underseat enclosures. But with my current setup, I have a trunk sub and amped the stock L7 underseat woofers. People have run the stock woofers at 150W @ 4ohms. I'm running mine at 75W @ 8ohms ....used an old amp.

My underseats are bandpassed between 65Hz and 150Hz or so.

I find the system to be very good. I always liked the highs...they can be a bit harsh at times but they are pretty good. Mids are ok but have improved minimally with the external amplification.

So trunk sub definetely rounds the system out. Improving midrange would be my next step and then if I ever have extra funds I would do a front stage with better speakers.

Thanks for the info. Maybe it makes sense to buy Technic's harness and use the G1300 to power the underseat woofers for now, as a pilot project, leaving open the possibilities of upgrading the stock underseat woofers and/or adding a trunk sub at a later date. What do you think?

I would:

1. Get a harness from Technic (the signal coming from the harness' LOC is between 20 and 150 Hz)
2. Use 2 channels of the PPI to drive the underseat OEM woofers in stereo (160W / ch is perfect). High-pass the signal to the underseats at ~ 60Hz.
3. Use the remaining 2 channels for the trunk sub (360W bridged at 4ohm should be plenty). Low-pass the signal at ~ 60Hz.

Edit: What model are those Dyn woofers? MW172 ?

Actually the RMS on the PPI is
4 x 80 watts @ 4 ohms
4 x 160 watts @ 2 ohms
2 x 320 watts in bridged mode.
So running the underseats in stereo thats 80 watts per channel since they aare 4 ohms. And the trunk sub would be getting 160 watts bridged at 4 ohms. What I would do is use the PPI to power the front door speakers and underseat subs as ********* said and then use the JL Audio G1300 for the trunk sub.

Though maybe I should reconsider?

Just checked the closet, they're 7" MW160s. I misremembered

To do this I guess I would have to get something like the JBL MS-8. Thanks for all the input, looks like I have some options to consider...

^Or you can recode your HU to Hi-FI and go from there....I don't think you need the JBL MS8. (Don't quote me on this, not sure)

Also I only increased the power to my underseat woofer by 5W each and increased the impedance to 8ohms.

I haven't heard the stock woofers at 150W per channel so I can't comment but I think kaigoss69 has his woofer amped at 150W. I would love to get an Alpine F300 (150W at 4ohms) to replace the M500 (75W at 8ohms) I'm currently driving them with but it's not my top priority right now.

Actually you could just use speaker level inputs if that amp has them if not a 4 channel line output convertor such as this one http://cgi.ebay.com/SLC4-SCOSCHE-4-C...item3362a244ff get a harness off of technic so you don't have to cut any of the factory wires.
