Just painted My 189's GTR Gunmetal GRey!!! Check it out!
Scroll Down For Pics with wheels on the car!
So my car has been sitting on Jackstands for about a month now. I miss my car sooo much!! I got into an stupid accident looking back at a ferrari and a crowd as i was pulling out of Cars and Coffee Plano TX i was driving supposedly onto a ramp to take the toll way but i was out of place so smart me i hit the brakes and try to take the ramp and i hit the ramp think going Like 40 Mph Pictures provided below on what happened i bent the crap out of my tirod and bent a bunch of other stuff i don't wanna list out. any ways i also cracked my wheels and broke 2 of them. i was thinking of upgrading my wheels but came across cheep 189's with tires. so i when ahed and bought them but they had severe curb rash and thought i should fix them and paint them! so i did i sanded them and and chose Nissan GTR Gunmetal gray Code: KAD PPG Deltron DBC and Thick DEltron DBC 2002 clear coat i also added metal filler to them! they turned out nice and the color just mind blowing! i know i should of made a DIY on how to repaint wheels and fix curb rash but i was tooo exited, so sorry guys! but enjoy the color and let me know what you think!! It looks worse than this in person (Split my front wheel CLean in Half the thing holding it together is the Tire...) Prep work! Paint Time!! What i Origgnallyy had in mind.....but the color above is wayyyyy better what do you guys think? Last edited by sammy_0559; 01-28-2012 at 11:58 AM.. |

looks awesome! when you mount them get rid of the blue and white bmw roundels.. they look out of place with that color.. maybe order some titanium silver metallic overlays!

Looks really good! I've always wondered though, how durable are painted rims? Will the paint chip off as soon as you try to mount or dismount a tire from them?

Can you take a pic standing far back from the car? to give us a better idea of the overall?
Typically, isn't paint on rims not very durable? Powder coating is more durable, right? Last edited by 335icandy; 01-27-2012 at 01:09 AM.. |

and true powder coating is better and stonger but a company wanted $125 a wheel, so i just did it all my self for $150 using top of the line paint, and the clear is some of the best stuff out there! |

I would have powdered coated, it lasts so much longer and doesn't chip like regular paint. this does look very nice.
