H&R Cup kit review
Found lots of posts by our American chums, but none really from us Brits running this set up. Can anyone give a review as to what they are like on on E92 (preferably 19's) on our good old British roads where parts of it are like driving on the surface of the Moon!
Thanks in advance

Every review I've read about H&R springs says they look great but are as hard as hell.

Not a review of the Cup kit but I had H&R coilovers on my Audi, they were pretty good in terms of comfort. My wife never knew in 18 months we owned the car It had been lowered! other than the fact I told her to take it easy over speed bumps lol

I think the springs used with oe shocks cause a harsh ride, but when used with the matching H&R dampers, the ride is apparently very compliant. One of the reasons the cup kit is currently at the top of my 'shortlist'.

Mike, are (or were) the Bilstein B12 Pro-Kit and KW Sport suspension kit on your list?
I'd be looking at one of those two, personally. The 35d engine has to be about the heaviest of the lot, you'll get the maximum drop listed.

The B12 kit was in the list, but couldn't find any info at all on the KW sports kit. Comfort is important but being KW I can imagine they will be quality.

Hi Mike,
I had a look at these kits also, I believe UK member Deleze purchased the non-comfort version but I'm not sure if he fitted it yet. This kit was top of my list based on U.S reviews who in some states have roads as poor as ours it seems. I wasn't planning on coilovers although the AP's/Weitecs looked attractive at the price. My other choice was Koni Yellow adjustable shocks with H&R Sport springs but the price comes out nearly as much a KW V1 INOX coilovers. The Orange Tuning website you have linked to is very well priced. I'm going to fit these spring perches that I have this month and see how the car looks on the OE M-Sport suspension, if still unsatisfied then I'll probably opt for the H&R kit coupled with the spring perches to give a little of the 'raked' look. See Nigelo's recent post showing off his car, he has 19's with the spring perches on otherwise OE suspension, it looks well. |

Based on my experience with H&R sport springs I'd recommend you look elsewhere.
I had them on my previous E92. I appreciate what's being considered is a kit,but I found the springs very,very hard,and far from a comfortable ride. |

Any spring when used with oe shocks would be an uncorfortable ride

I just removed the Hartge dampers, bloody things are solid (Bilstien B6 variant). I remember now that a softer damper gives BETTER traction on most crappy B roads Mike - its the DAMPERS that make a hard ride. With high spring rates and soft dampers it will just be a pogo stick |

It has to be a combination of both, also depends if the springs are linear or progressive. It's the spring that takes the 'shock' (poor choice of words!!) and the damper dampens. Hence why KW use the same V1 shock but comfort springs to produce the overpriced street comfort kit.

Apologies for the old thread bump but I could not find anything more recent and I am curious if now in 2014 any more members are running the H&R Cup Kit? I would be probably looking at the Touring (aka Comfort) version so interested in feedback on these.
