its a 328...first i dont get why there is no dipstick but w/e...2nd, when am i supposed to get an oil change ? i got the car at 20k now its at 25k and the service info has not changed it says 12,000 or september 2011...what does that mean? do i have to bring it in at 32k miles or september 2011 (whichever comes first)? why 9/2011? shouldnt it be 9/2010 since i got the car in 9/2009? thank you

like i said the service info on the computer said 9/2011....not 9/2010....and it says 12,000 miles..so that means if i got the car at 20, i have to bring it in at 32 right?

the service indicator measures 15-18,000 miles or two years which is crap. The dealer will change your oil for you if it's been a year. It's called a low-mileage oil change. A lot of owners probably aren't aware of this since the indicator in the car measures 2 years.

My God why would you wait 12K-15K to to have the dealer give you a free oil change? You need to change it out at least once yourself in between the dealers service every 7500K

Sounds good but somewhere in a thread I read that if you change your oil somewhere else than BMW they void your warranty...is that true? how would they know anyway?

They only way your warranty would be voided is if you use the wrong oil type and messed up the engine. Use exactly the oil types the drivers manual say and your good. There is no way for the dealer to know and if you do it right they won't care either.

It shouldn't void your warranty as long as you have a receipt showing the shop used the correct oil and filter for your car.
