Mercedes Dealers strike again
Thought a nice chuckle for everybody.
Bought a Bclass last Jan B200 Sport CDI. Nice car. At the time two nearside wheels front and rear where badly damaged. Dealer promised they will be returned to brand new look before we pick up. (Have this in writting) I suspect it will be a refurb job and it was. Few other niggles but got them sorted. aka between test drive and pickup someone put a gauge on the back window with an ice scaper and they tried to say it was always there. nice try had to have a new rear window doh. Anyway by July as wheels are two tone the laquer began to peel and fall apart. Never used any acid or anything on the wheels. Wheels where in fact sent off by dealer to lepsoms as I discovered during a puncture change over. (Sticker inside the wheel) So wheels went back to dealer and they did them again. 6 Months later and same thing happened. So I'm kicking off ok minor thing but should have been done first time. Even lepsons where suprised as they offer 1 year warranty on the work. So anyway wife went to take car for service today as I couldnt go. We also have issue with headlight washers not working. Dealer told her that the wheels issue was due to brake dust and that the car did not have headlight washers. (All Sport B Classes come with OEM xenons and washers) Typical she just nodded and went away. I will be having kind words with the service manager again on Friday as again huge service bill and crap service, checked the car over when i got home they havent even cleaned it properly Should be fun. Was very close to jumping to a AMG late last year glad I stuck with my E90

Makes you sick when you spend all that money! I think BMW have great customer service, well certainly the dealer I use and I guess everyone has had bad experiences at some point but Merc IMO just haven't got a look in in comparison to Bimmer!

Will see what they have to say on Friday but the attitude just sucks, might on only be a B-class but it still is not a Dacia and I bet you get better service there

Yeah i've heard bad stuff about MB dealers too, so i'm not looking forward to the 1st service on the E63.
But it can't be any worse than the patronising, rude, idiotic, overpriced, incompetent and slow service I've always had from several BMW dealers? They would take some beating, but maybe they can sink lower than that! DavS1, I would like to know which planet you were on when you got "good service" from a BMW dealers! Is it the same planet I live on? |

You do get some good dealers or you jsut get plain lucky. I have to say service I've had from Ascot Sytner has been very good and any issues generally quickly resolved. Certainly no BS as today at Merc or situations like that

Yep, the luck of the draw.
The worst service I've had is actually from our Peugeot dealers, god help us the most mind blowing incompetence ever. Just hope our local MB are better than that. |

Just on the service side, best has been BMW (not the local dealer though) and Ford, yes I said ford.
Worse in first place is a joint one for me Audi and VW (is there a link there!) closely followed by Vauxhall. I only had a short time dealing with MB for a company car some years ago, have to say they were somewhere in the middle, yet we did have massive buying power and the like so that may have helped I don't know. If I get bad service I am happy to speak to the service manager and sales manager and air my views and if I am still not happy I write to the UK part and moan and in some cases it helps others (cough Audi) not even a bloody reply.

Douglas park BMW in Hamilton, Glasgow. My dad has bought cars and had them serviced there for around 13 years and we've had nothing but good service and sales from them! I bought my first bmw there in 2010 and can say the sme thankfully, will go there for my next bmw as well! I do know of other Glasgow dealers who I wouldn't touch with a barge pole!

I can guess who you are talking about Davs1. Wouldn't darken their door. DP have always been good for me but I do know a few people that have had crap service from them.
On another note regarding MB. My mother in law just bought a new C class. It's just over a month old and has already been back 3 times for warranty work on 3 unrelated electrical faults. |

Sales - hmmmmm.... Hence my X5 was bought from Sytners. And if i was getting a new 125d i won't be buying from them either. That's not just because of an individual sales guy. That's because of the DP. But everyone has their own experiences. |

Well fun meeting with service manager. But agreed to redo the wheels in one colour at suppliers of my choice, win win.
Lets see how they deal with cleaning the car when it goes in

You want brand spanking new ones from MB They've had 2 goes already! If they had put 2 new ones on in the first place it would have been cheaper for them! |

Generally I would agree but about two months ago wife got cut up at a junction and a kerb scratched the other side (drivers side) wheel so even if I got two new wheels for the ones they did I still will prob have issue with the other side once fixed. This way I get a finish on all and going forward no problems with the laquer peeling.

well good result in the end. Have now a set of nicely powder coated 18" alloys in gun metal grey. Thanks to my alloys. Did get the chance to play with the AMG A250 for a week which was nice though a bit cramp for whole family.
Saying that they still cant clean a car if their life depended on it. But at least wheels are sorted finally
