If you install the Stage 1 91 map, can you swap over to the 95 one or do you have to pay extra?

You buy the stage, so you get all the fuel variants of that stage for the one price.

If you want to reset your auto adaptions, here are the steps I used. Mine is a ZF auto. It made a noticeable difference. Of course if you have a BMW cable or similar like BavTech or SnapOn you can run all the adaptions from it.

So, without a cable, steps are:

1. Never touch the brake pedal & key remains inserted the entire time
2. Insert key and push START Button
3. Press and HOLD accelerator pedal for 30 seconds (some say 5, some say 25 seconds - I did 30 to be sure).
4. WITHOUT RELEASING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, push the START Button
5. Release accelerator pedal
6. Wait full 2 minutes
7. Start car normally

what's the risk of using the 98RON tune if our petrol isn't up to scratch? will the ECU de-tune accordingly, or could there be misfiring, or something else?

Timing corrections, throttle closures, reduced power. Can lead to misfiring and knock events.

91 octane in the US would be our equivalent to 95 RON.

As most have already said run the 91 octane map with our 98 RON fuel.

Some confusion with AKI and RON octane ratings of different markets.

I'm late to the party but had a look at your logs.

It's pulling timing during this pull.
I could only get clean logs on 5-6 degree adv on Bp ultimate.

That flash Ramp from 6-9 degree advance.
Your car would probably go quicker on the lower map or just add 5-10l of e85 to keep the logs clean in that map.

Yep.
More boost and timing doesn't mean faster especially if it's hot or fuel is bad.

Yeah I noticed the small timing corrections at high rpm but this is apparently normal even the stock map the dme pulls some timing.

Ill try the 91 map and compare that to the current 93.

Any idea what the difference in power/torque gains is between the 91 and 98 maps? (on unmodded 335i)?

cheers

I believe the target boost is less aggressive overall.

The 98 octane map targets 18psi in third gear after 4000rpm!

MHD told me to use 91 map.

Just curious, is there any damage to the car if I run higher map such as 93 map?

Yes, it may cause detonation.
This is like hitting your Pistons with a hammer.

Yea the stock map has corrections everywhere.

It's not bad, atleast you know the knock tables are on.

What does "correction" here mean?
Is it a bad time?
Why the stock map has lots of corrections though?
