HI guys,

My E90 335d is on 60k now and the discs are in need during the next 10k, well, IMO anyway.

The pads are new but whatever they are I don't like them, they are too hard and need to be hot to be of any use.

I have always used Carbotech XP10's and XP8's in my previous Evo's and Integra's but what pads do you guys rate that has a good bite from cold?

I use the car as a road car and it has been remapped. I'm not bothered about dust, I keep the car clean.

Also, what discs do you reccomend, obviously I could use BMW ones bought from a stealership but I have seen Brembo ones on eBay and I was just wondering what you guys thought were the best bang for your buck etc.

1. OEM set up.
2. OEM discs + ferodo ds2500 pads + braided lines and decent fluid.
3. BBK.

I would always go for OEM discs on these but which ones as on eBay there are ones from Brembo, Padgid and Mintex.

I was really wondering which ones people had already tried and found to be good as at the moment I'm swinging towards the Brembo's.

With regards to the DS500's, I've never really been a fan of them and always heard that the Hawk pads were the best on the BMW's....

I'm going to use Brembo ones (nextdaybrakes.com) they're keenly priced, a high quality product and you can get them pre-painted to avoid the rusting on the hub and edge of disc.

I'd use the Brembo pads in the back with DS2500 in the front. I had them in my old car on Brembo discs and they were epic.

No, no reviews of the Hawk pads, I've heard that they are popular in the states though and people rave about them over there.

I might do the lines because sooner or later the hoses go and it will give a nicer feel.

Think I'll have a look at that site, see what they can do on a set of discs.

When you're looking at part numbers, you'll see 2 similar parts IIRC one has .11 after it and are slightly more expensive.

Those are the painted ones.

Got number 2 setup on my 335d. The ferodos can be a tad squeally which can be embarrassing when in town.
I wouldnt have them again tbh. Think there are some pads out there with much better performance and maybe quieter. Someone mentioned Mintex to me recently....?

From experience Mintex pads aren't a patch on DS2500's.. Have you plenty of copper behind the pad? Or even better use the Mintex Cera-Tec as a lube.

I have used 1144's in my Integra DC5, they were superb but when I went to 1155's I found them to be very bad at covering the car in metalic dust which had to be polished off with a DA but they didn't half bite.

My DC5 was a dedicated stripped and wild Nürburgring toy from when I lived over there.

I used and still use Ceratec grease, far better than copper slip, you can buy it off eBay too which is handy.

What Mintex pads are we talking about being pants?

I'm comparing the 1144 against the DS2500 on a Megane F1 with standard fit Brembos.

To be fair I'm certain different pads work better in different applications.

But, agree on the Ceratec won't use anything else now and it's about £3 delivered.. bargain.
