Recommend a Country Hotel & Spa
Hi all
I'm thinking of taking the miswah for a surprise weekend away in a luxury country hotel with spa. I wondered if anyone can recommend one? I'm looking for: - Somewhere with lots of character and history - In the country somewhere or with nice gardens and surroundings - Excellent spa and leisure facilities - Within 1.5 hour drive from London Look forward to hearing what you recommend - website links welcome |

i can recomend this one. its a little further than you wanted, but its a straight line there or lots of bendy bits. My wife and daughter stayed there last year while is was on a jolly in italy they loved it and they don't suffere fools lightly! http://www.devere-hotels.com/our-hot...oods/the-hotel it has nice settings, in the middle of the country side, good rooms, good spa and pool, golf and all sorts of other activities in teh grounds. just brows the web site. Dario ps dont forget to prebook all the nice things for the lady!

Hoar Cross Hall in Burton-on-Trent is a beautiful place - loads of character and I know many people that have been and recommend it highly Not too far from the M1 |

Food, rooms and gardens are fantastic. Didn't use the spa. Feels properly posh, but very relaxed. http://www.fawsleyhall.com/ |

I use Rowhill Grange in Kent regularly as a place to stay when working down south. It's a nice old county house style hotel with a pretty decent spa facility. The food in the restaurant is of a decent standard and the rooms (suites) are nice but all different. Can't comment too much on the Spa facilities as I haven't used them, although my wife has and she said they were good albeit a little small.

I can just Imagine the Mrs when you want to take her to:
Whore Cross, where women used to meet to errrr....... or Lower Slaughter, where people were sort of killed. I have been to the Grove a few times which has a very high standard and is at Chandlers Cross so not too far, can be a little expensive. Make it a good one |
