My S/A is going to call me this morning with the total $. If the check engine problem is a $100 issue but they want me to pay $500 for maintenance can I just bring it to a local shop for maintenance? Im sure it would be a lot cheaper for fluids and oil? By the way they gave me a 2012 535I as a loaner. Pretty sweet but a way different ride than my 335.

So let me get this straight..

If you want free warranty service you have to pay 500 bucks in maintenance?

Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr?

He said he would take care of the check engine problem but not the maintenance due. I guess in a way he took care of me half way instead of the whole problem. If he takes care of the engine cant I just bring my car somewhere else? Im sure it would be cheaper than $500 right?

he wont do it because thats how he gets paid commission. the SA's get paid commission and it completely correlates to the survey you give them. If they drop below 97% percentile of satisfaction, their commission drops from like 8% to like 3

Buy a Chevy. You won't even make to Warranty Expiration before it is totally shot!

Let him deal with engine problems under warranty ... some dealer ships offer oil change special like 90 -100 bucks so get that done too and if there is anything left go to an indy shop, will be much cheaper. They are just doing their job unless they are doing a good will repair for you and covering some engine problems that are not under recall. I'd tip the guy 20-30 bucks anyway.

So it cost me $473 for maintenance. Oil change and some fluid. What a bunch of BS. I emailed a BMW representative at BMW NA saying I want a refund. I paid $473 for a maintenance check that i was supposed to get free anyway this year but didnt cause I was 1 DAY LATE. Lets see what happens. Anyone deal with BMW NA? do you think they will do something or am I screwed? Ill keep you posted anyway. Not sure how long it takes for them to respond.

Now that you already paid, getting your money back is going to be difficult, but don't stop calling BMWNA. Be a PITA as much as possible, what do you have to loose.

If you make enough noise and speak with the right people then they may do something.. I raised hell for some maintenance that was due on my old E46 a few years back and they came through and covered it through "good will."

in exchange for your $500, what work (other than fluids) did they do? In other words, what did they fix?

One day. Why not two? Or a week?

YOu had a date and you let it expire. It sucks. Really, but what is it about BMW that failed to live up to the contract? You failed.

If the Car did not break you would not have bought the car in.

You could have gone to an independent shop and had it fixed. They did you a favor.

The price of the maintenence? Well thats for you to pay or walk away.

You're kidding right?? When he called back to tell me whats wrong I said just do the oil change and he said it was too late it is almost done. Second, It was 1 day expired and I was due a free maintenance check up for this year anyway. As I said earlier in the thread, I am not looking for sympathy just venting on here asking if I should attempt to get some $ back. So I appreciate you pointing out that I was late,it is my fault,I failed, and I need to pay to have a BMW basically. You must be one of the intelligent ones...

Welcome to life after warranty..$500 is a good day in my book..If you depend on them to fix major issues post warranty you will be looking at minimum $1,000 repair bills here on out.
$130+ hourly labor charges rack up quickly....
Recommend selling it fast..$500 is nothing compared to what might be next.
