E92 Introduction

Hi all, as the title suggests just a quick introduction with a few photos.

After lurking around on these forums for a while I thought it was about time to make an introduction thread. The obsession with beamers started in 2001 with an E46 318I which was then followed in 2003 by a E46 320CI. After moving to the competition and buying an 07 Lexus is250 we returned with the best one yet the 2010 E92 335i M with DCT.

The car is fairly tame as opposed to others I've seen on here but once the warranty runs out I hope to change that. The list of mods done so far is as follows.
-Akrapovic Slip on System
-Carbon Fiber kidney grills
-Carbon Fiber Centre Caps
-Carbon Fiber Badges ( blacked out 335 badge)
-///M coloured sticker on kidney grill
- Tinted windows.

Plans for the future are,
-AR Catless Downpipes.
-Full Akra system
-Dinan intake system
-JB4 or Proceed ( )
-KW v3's
-Pilot Super Softs.

Im having trouble posting some pictures but will try my best.

Nice ride dude, may I ask why you went with the akra mufflers?

Have you had any dramas with your 335i yet?

Regarding the pics you just need to add after the end of the link you have posted a link instead of [img] (I fixed it above in the quoted section of my post)

Thanks for that !!! I've had a few things go wrong. Once the car wouldn't unlock with my key so I grabbed the other key and it worked fine. Once the idrive screen would start up, so I just restarted the car and it was fine.

A few times the car would drop revs to around 600k and either die or revert to neutral and rev hard to round 1100 - 1200. Took it to BMW and they said they " updated the software" and it hasn't done it since.

apart from that it has been a gem, also got some coding done to it, like the i accept screen removal, seat belt chime, and the annoying gong sound when you start the car.

You had that gear drop to Neutral issue as well? I'm facing the same issue and it even stalled once! Any idea what 'software' they updated?

I love their quality also especially the Ti system but not the price or the thick styled rolled tips.

Don't lose one of those tips as apparently they are priced crazily for a replacement (it was something like $300 per tip- a guy was trying to sell an akra system on here with a missing tip that had unscrewed and someone priced up a replacement)

Yeah price is high that was the main reason I went for the stainless steel version as opposed to the Ti.

All BMW Doncaster said to me was becaue the car didn't chuck a code, they can't diagnose it. He then told me that they re flashed it and it didn't work so they then upgraded some " software" to the most recent.

I doubt it but does anyone think it could be related to these new battery cable recalls ?

You should also add to your coding list:

- Digital speedo
- TV in motion

Welcome... very nice car.

Just wondering how you can plan on doing 'akra full system' as well as 'ar catless DPs'

For the DPs, definitely AR over Akra... AR has a 3" opening (vs Akras 2.5") and is much better value at $895 v $1495.

I had a customer with DCT issues recently.. he said the tranmission would thump into park sometimes at low speeds :s

Thanks, that is a concern if it drops into park
Ahk, I though that the full akra system ended before the down pipes, and I was told that the AR's would mount up with the Akra , fair enough then I have no idea.

Thanks. I might look into adding the digital speedo. I thought of TV in motion, its something that is nice to have but wont be used much.

I just realised you're an N55 not N54 - N55 has much more choice in downpipes as they all fit pretty much... even the burger tuning one fits up a-ok and is priced very well....

It basically goes:

Downpipe -> Midpipes -> Centre resonator -> Rear muffler

Downpipe = gives you more power, slight increase in noise
Midpipes = not much you can do on the N55, as they are already 'catless'
Centre res = delete this / replace with a 'Y pipe' for more noise
Rear muffler = you've already got the akra...

I reckon go with the Burger DP as it fits up and is priced well... enjoy the power (but you'll need a tune to go with) and the slight increase in noise. After that if you want more noise then you can delete your centre res (although doing this can cause drone)

Having Akrapovic on my bike and sounding hot it would be great to hear it on your 335.

Well I can guess you have worked on a few Just need to change my To-do list now. I was planning on tuning the car once the Dinan intake is done as well as the exhaust bits ( still deciding now ).
Does the car have to be tuned straight after the DP's are in? if so i might save them for last and do them with a tune. Still not sure if I should go JB or Proceed. A lot of the 1er guys use JB but here ive noticed theres more proceed.

Ive also herd that the original charge pipe can crack with a tune and should be replaced??? can anyone shed some light onto that please

been reading some forums from the states and have herd that the N55 is a " dog " to tune as opposed to the N54.

Also has anyone with a DCT had any problems with the gear box handling the extra power? Sorry for all the amateur questions.

Yeh the n54 is easier but there are options for the n55. CP can leak/pop off but it is intermittent even on stock cars, so I'd do it just to be safe

I am fbo and dct is fine
