Tyres

I can get a set of oversize falkens, ie 235 and 265 for my car for a total of 560 something

are the tyres any good though? How much are vredesteins in the same size and which tyre is better?

£560.00 is TOO much Carl, take a punt around and you can get them far cheaper,I'd be looking more around the £450 - £470 mark for those sizes in 452's.

Quick google got these with no hassle!

235's :
http://www.falkentyres.co.uk/product...hFor=&PT_ID=53
265's (You can squeeze a 275 on)
http://www.falkentyres.co.uk/product...hFor=&PT_ID=53

Plenty of other places do them, try Elite@ Rainham, you can wear them out on the way home

I don't have a problem with Falkens, good tyres, and more importantly for you ( as you go through tyres like a madman), there cheap as chips!

I've heard good reports about the Vredesteins,Stevie (hoops) is a fan.

Put a set of FK452s on, you won't be disappointed. Mine were wicked, and at that price you can burn rubber and not get so twitchy in the wallet department!

If you hate them that much, change them and sell em on ebay.

Why go over sized? be careful to avoid that 'balloon' look!

Extra 10mm helps fill the arches a little and more importantly gives just a little bit more rim protection

get the Vreds fandangalie. cant be that much more but me thinks its worth it. not sure how its gonna put out at the 'Ring' tho The falkens are essentially classed as a budget perf. tyre, albeit a very good one.

These things keep u on the road. In any case u shouldnt compromise on your rubbah!

I went 452's got 265's on the rear. and no problems at all.

I love them for most conditions, but they are not so great in the cold and wet. But then again, neither were the PS2's

You will need to put a bit more pressure in them, or they are too sloppy/spongy

Carlos

Probably a wise choice to go 235 and 265 as the rim protection on the Falken 912's is poor and in hindsight I would have done this - I think that the 452's rim protection may be more pronounced though. That aside I cannot falt the Falkens even in the wet.

I guess they will need replacing earlier than a Premium brannd but at just over £400 for 4 who cares.

I would expect you could get a set of 452's for under £500

The 912s don't have a rim protector and are built more for comfort than sport. The 452s do have a rim protector and are build for more sport than comfort. The 912s will therefore last longer due to more likely being a cruiser than a ragger and are slightly cheaper.

I've got the 452s fitted and, so far, cannot fault them, especially for the price. I'm still going easy on them but must admit I'm finding the grip better than my old Bridgestones. Just keep tweaking the pressure so that they're spot on.

Just go onto BlackCircles to get a price then contact the recommended fitter to see if they are happy putting non-RFTs onto your car. Once you've got a price you can barter with any local tire fitter to match it.

Carlos, given the way you are famed to drive, there are two routes I'd imagine. Speed lots on high quality rubber (PS2s) or spend a lot less (Falken) and just hammer them change more often.

I've worked out for me that even changing the Falkens more often will work out better financially in the long run (don't know why I ever use that argument as I never keep a car long enough to fulfil it!!!).

I have 452's on the front can't fault them other than the noise. They deffo make more road noise than my old Conti sports.

I've not noticed high levels of noise from the Falkens but then again I've just come from Bridgestones. Would tweaking the pressure help here??? (I've currently got 36 all round).

www.camskill.co.uk are very good for falkens. Cheap delivery too. (£455 delivered to your door)

I have 235's and 265's on my 19's but am wondering if I could go 275's on the rear.

I say this because the 265's still look a bit undersized on the rear rims. Does anyone have 275's on the back and do they rub at all?

I would say with the power of your car, plus your tendancy to use that performance, go with the tyres you like rather than ones based on cost.

All my cars get Michelin PS2's now - got a full new set off ebay for around £600 but I think I got lucky

Ive just ordered a full set of Vredesteins for my E92 M3 - 245 front and 275 rear - they came in fitted and balanced at around £640 from Elite. Im getting them fitted after my dyno runs next week. I just dont rate the PS2's as much as some on here seem to do - ive had them on my last 3 performance cars and i genuinely do not think they are worth the extra money. Cups (in the dry) on the other hand are without doubt worth every penny, regardless of the fact they are shot in around 4-5000 miles, if you want that supreme level of grip. But in my opinion, and it is MY opinion, the Vredesteins are THE best tyre for the money you can buy, end of. I tried the Falkens a few years ago on an E46 M3 and didnt rate them. Get the Vreds Carlos - you wont be disappointed - i even fitted them to my 997 C2S and the rear end grip gave me a full on boner every time!!!

I was going to go with the Vreds until I got such a good deal on the PS2's - never hear a bad word against them.

"the rear end grip gave me a full on boner every time" - will be trying those on the Cayman then................

What's wrong with R888's, at least they would suit your driving style and give you loads of grip when you need it in the dry.

Never tried the Vredstein's so can't comment, but had the Falken FK452's on my Cerb (along with a lot of other Cerb owner's) and now my D.

Jules.

From all the posts on this same question on the US site, the answer is yes with Msport suspension and standard offset. If you have lowered the car, forget it and the arches will need rolling.
