What bypass is he using? I have a Viper 5901 with smart start I believe that has a bad DLPK. I have a new one somewhere, but I can't get anyone to program it...

Not looking to have this done right now, but is this even possible with a manual transmission?

Technically yes, there is something that goes in to verify that the car is in neutral before it will start. I have heard some horror stories about cars getting started and running through garage walls before. I have never come across a shop willing to do one.

Yea, I used to whave a good hookup on Viper systems and put them in everything. They are a royal PITA on BMW's tho. I also had to order a special bypass for the push button start which required a sacrificial valet key. Took 2 installers the better part of 2 days to make it work properly. They stopped using the DLPK modules in favor of another model and now I can't get my replacement reprogrammed to the car

Yea, that has always been the best bet with MT's.

Or just don't park it in gear like a moron.

In 16 years of driving I've never once parked my MTs in anything other than neutral.

Mark if they can do it on a MT for my M, I'd be interested since we just moved 2 Evanston and I now don't have a garage, let alone covered parking.

You know it's an emergency brake right. In the 8 years of owning a manual I only put it in gear and no e brake unless on a steep incline/decline. On my other manual I used to have the e brake failed and ran into my buddies Sti. No damage since he was parked right behind. Another was with my buddies e46 m3 on a very Icey winter he put it up thee brake up on his driveway. He went out the next morning to find his car on the middle of his street. The icy moved his car. It's alwyas best to keep it on gear. It's easy free and you'll never have a failure. E brakes give out and trust me when they give out it can be when it's in tension and when you least suspect it.
