Hi Guys,

Has anyone else experienced this problem? My passenger headrest rattles every time I hit a bump in the road when driving by myself. Really starting to bother me at this point; any ideas?

On stock suspension/sport package on my car if that helps

I have the same issue, the passenger seat or the headrest rattle. It's very annoying. Brand new RFT tires on the car and 45K miles. I had the tires put on at the dealership but maybe I will have them re-balance them to see if that helps.

Any updates on this? I found that if I adjust the passenger seat using the power seat controls, it will temporarily relieve the rattle. For me, the rattle isn't when I hit bumps or anything, but usually when I'm driving at a normal driving speed. Gets pretty annoying.

So far I haven't been able to pin down an exact fix - however, mine now rattles under light to moderate acceleration. Been busy at work, going to take another stab at it this weekend if I get a free moment

Mine rattles too. And yes, it is effin annoying! What I do to fix it (temporarily) is place the headrest in between the "clicks" -- you know how it clicks at each height level. This works, until I hit a bit bump or someone else messes with it.

Let me know if this works for you, or if you figure anything out.

Okay, I'll have to try this as a fix -- My game plan for the weekend was to attempt removing the headrest and lubing it up with some sort of oil. The headrest comes out, right?! I'd imagine it would...

Anyway, will let you know if the lube treatment helps at all

Could try adding some tape to the metal headrest arms or something - my guess is that if the diameter of the headrest mounts was wider there would be less room for it to rattle?

+1 I did the same for temporary fix. Gonna try the tape if that works. Will update

well, mine rattles too on highway driving. i think i narrowed it down between the metal rod and the rod guide.

FIXED IT!

As it turned out, my rattle was coming from the metal rod on the right side of the passenger headrest. I applied 1 layer of clear duct tape to the bottom 2/3 of the metal rod, and pushed it back down so the tape was not visible. I have driven roughly 50 miles since I made this change Saturday morning, and haven't had 1 rattle! Myriad is a genius haha

Tip: If the tape has more than one layer (overlaps) or has ridges in it when applied, the headrest may not go back down (I learned this the hardway). It causes the tape to bunch up when you put the headrest back down, and you have to remove it/start again

I have same rattle noise from passenger headrest on my e93 convertible. On this version, the head rest is electronically controlled. Metal rod is not exposed, so tape-method does not work. anyone know the procedures to remove headrest cover?

I think it's a BMW problem. My F10 has the rattle and a 2018 x1 loaner did the same.
