Glad I found this thread. This procedure definitely worked for my recently purchased '08. Regardless of placebo effect, etc., I noticed a marked difference in throttle response in D. Didn't really change shift smoothness - was always smooth, but greatly reduced the amount of travel on the pedal before the car would actually respond, which was very annoying around town in D.

how do you hold it 30 seconds without starting the water pump cycle?

after holding the gas for 10 seconds it starts a 12 minute electric water pump venting cycle, used after a coolant change

See this diy.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=coolant+flush

the noise people hear is probably the water pump doing its thing.

Mmmm... not a clue. I followed the procedure - radio readiness on, accelerator for 20 seconds, radio readiness off, release accelerator, wait 2 minutes, start car, drive away much happier

Or you can easily reset both the Throttle & Tranny Adaptations using a BavTech cable if you have one...

Should be able to do same using INPA and coding cable, but don't know if it's been done yet - Grant from DetailAddict would know.

Ok, WTF. Isn't the "noise" mentioned in step two the water venting cycle and NOT the gearbox resetting??

Whether the pedal works or not the adaptions can be reset with a BT cable and it does improve things to reset them

I tried this today in my 2011 328ix E92 and drove about 150 miles afterwards. The jerky shifts I have been experiencing from a stop completely disappeared. Placebo? Maybe - but my car is shifting better than it ever has. I had an AA tune done at 3500 miles (have 22,000 now) and wasn't impressed. Performance and especially shifting seems much better now. We'll see how long it lasts!

Just tried this and it didnt work. I used my other key fob that has never been used to compare it to. My main key holds the gear in DS until I either get on it to shift or let off to shift. My spare key shifts quickly and firmly between 3k-4k rpm.

Tried both methods listed in the thread. So has this actually been confirmed by someone other than "feeling" the difference? I ask because I would like to reset how the car reacts in DS mode.
