stock headers cost?
Has anyone else got a quote on stock n52 headers? I was given $400 for catless ones or $520 for ones with the catalytic converters in tact.. does this sound reasonable?

No these are from a wrecked car. I was gonna cut the cats out and have some homemade catless headers since i read that racing teams got the best results by doing that compared to super sprint ones.

Or PM people who posted stuff about putting on aftermarket headers, maybe they have their headers just laying around in their garage?

i did this to my headers, just use the ones you have, it takes like 11 hours without propper tools, such as a boss welder and a pipe bender

No I couldnt find it. but either way I dont want SS/MMW ones because even if they give me an extra 5 HP compared to a stock setup, they are all obscenely loud in all the videos i have heard and I dont really want that

so you have 4 sections reducing noise. If you put on catless headers, say a virbrant res and semi quiet muffler it would prolly sound like a catback setup. all the setups you ve prolly heard are single, free flowing mufflers which is why its so loud.

yeah. I suppose if I took off the primary cats I could put a resonator on before my PE exhaust muffler.. BTW, Mapleridge might be producing those headers that he put on his N52B25. Does anyone know off-hand if those will fit on my 3.0L or do I have to click the whole way over to real OEM to see if both engines have the same part number for headers?

ok. i'll have to look under my car to see exactly where the front axle and everything are but I think theyre far enough in front of the engine and headers that it shouldnt affect anything.

Just an FYI, my local recycle center buys BMW primary cats for $120 each. So that is $240 for the cats. Good way to recoup the cost of getting them cut out and welded pipe back in.
