Does it apply to 135i also? I think its the same n55 engine, am i right? You didnt post this in 1 addict section, so
just want to make sure before i order the tune, since my car was built in march of 2010. One of the first ones.
It could apply to any N55. Your best bet is to go to the dealer for an update just to be sure you're on a known good (newer) rom. The older roms seemed to have idle and cold start quirks as well, so an update could help the car feel better as well. If you do purchase an AP and have any issues or get an unsupported rom, feel free to email me directly and I'll help get you sorted as quick as possible.

Anything newer than 9780B will be fine. There are at least 3 major revisions beyond this and we've verified the code in all of these to make sure that they won't cause a problem.

I have the 9780B also. Please add me to the list.

I had my Rom updated almost 2 years ago following a recall for an earlier bad Rom. I don't think there is a recall now. Any suggestions of anything we could tell the dealer to help us get a free update (I hear that updates outside of recalls are costly)

Thanks

So let me get this straight...

The next Stage 1+ map will used with FMIC but no DP? Will be curious what the gains will be without a DP.

When Stage 2 comes out with DP support, will it have a DPFix so that I can pass any/all emissions testing here in Georgia? In addition to not have an SES light constantly.

When going to a dealer with COBB for a normal service, is there Valet mode or should you just quickly uninstall it given it is just electronic and fairly quick?

thx

It seems these older roms have issues with idling and cold starts. I would think that would be a good place to start with the dealer. Generally if you have an issue like that the tech will check your DME, realize its out of date and get you to an updated rom. Its easier for them to do that than actually look for an issue on the car. If you happen to have a copy of the recall, please send it to me.

Gains are looking pretty solid from the intercooler. The stock intercooler just isn't efficient enough at increased power levels. This was the same on the N54 and our Stage1+ maps made more power than Stage2 without intercooler.

Our Stage2 and above maps will turn the light off on your dash, but we do not interfere with any government mandated emissions standards. When going to the dealer, we recommend a full uninstall. That way, if the dealer flashed your DME, your AP will be able to recognize this and you won't need to get it re-licensed.

this sounds great. I would love to just add FMIC and then cat back exhaust for sound and be done...easy.

thx

Hey guys, you should be seeing emails soon, but I figured I'd post an update here as well. I have released the new firmware for 96A0B and 9780B. If you are currently supported by one of these roms, you'll want to update to the latest version of AP firmware via AccessPort Manager (v1.6.7.0-5426 or newer), next uninstall the AP from your car. Finally, go to the dealer and get an update for your DME. Once you have something newer than 9780B, you can use the AP as normal again. Thanks for your patience with this. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Yessir, $895 gets you an AP. It also includes multiple maps (with more being added very soon), the ability to read and clear DTCs, live monitoring, and datalogging capabilities.

What is your ROM version? Check the previous post, if its one of the two bad rom, you have to update to the latest first. I have the same unrecognized rom in my 2011 335cpupe

Thanks. If you add Stage 2 maps (and the correct mods are added to the car), are these new maps included?

He had a good rom, unfortunately you do not Ranoz. Once you get your DME updated you should be good to go.

Any ideas on how we can get our DME updated at the dealer? What's do you have to say for this to happen or do they just update every car's automatically?

We're looking for a TSB or recall, but at this point I would recommend complaining about idle and cold start issues. That seems to be a major change from these old roms to the more current stuff. The newer roms really run a lot better and if you tell a tech these are your complaints, he'll likely look at your DME and see its out of date. Updating is pretty standard as a first attempt to fix issues like these since it doesn't require them to take up a lift or spend a lot of time diagnosing.

If we find anything more concrete, I'll post it up for everyone.

Let me know what happens. As I said there are several newer revisions, so I hope everything will go smoothly. We'll have you doing burnouts again in no time.

Is there a place in Los Angeles where I could try before I buy? I am interested, but I also want to make sure it will work with my car.

We have a shop in Fountain Valley (not sure if that's close to you). We do also offer a 30 day return policy, so we'll happily take the AP back if you're not supported and don't want to update your DME or if you don't want to wait. The vast majority of 2011 and early 2012 N55s are currently supported. I only had a total of 7 customers with the old rom and any other new roms we've received since release have been added in 48-72 hours.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
