Exclamation Jaguar XF-R Revealed: 5.0 V8 Supercharged 510hp

Official pictures and details of the new 2010 Jaguar XF-R have finally emerged. The executive British cat was designed to take on cars like the Audi RS6, BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63/ CLS 63 AMG.

In order to play at this level Jaguar has provided a potent engine for the XF-R in the form of a 5.0-litre V8 with a whirling supercharger plugged into it plus an uprated 6-speed automatic gearbox. The engine produces 510hp (380kW) and 625Nm. In comparison the previous generation S Type R, the XF-R's spiritual predecessor, made 399hp (298kW) from its 4.2-litre supercharged motor. For this power the XF-R gives back a 0 - 60mph time of 4.7 seconds. Jaguar also did a 0 - 100km/h (62 mph) run which came back as 4.9 seconds on the clock. A combined fuel economy of 12.5l/100km (18.8mpg US) is stated by Jaguar.

In terms of specification Jaguar did not skimp on features for their new top-of-the-range XF. Wheels are 20-inch alloys coupled with larger ventilated disc brakes. A new body kit featuring wider side skirts and a bonnet with louvers gives the car a more purposeful stance even when standing still. There's a new front end with a shiny upper mesh grille and a black lower mesh grille. The XF-R also has a new rear spoiler and four round tailpipes. The "R" moniker placed on the four brake calipers as well as the rear end makes it clear where this car stands in the Jaguar hierarchy.

Interior comes with soft grain leather as standard, adjustable sports seats and a dark chequered aluminium trim on the dash. The "R" is also seen just above the glove box and at the bottom of the steering wheel. The XF-R will come with a choice of eight exterior colours including one called Salsa.

More of the Jaguar XF-R will be on display at the North American International Motor Show in Detroit.

Performance:

I love the figures, I think it's just what the car needed to be honest. The SV8 model is like the 335i, it's a great performer but the "R" version was much needed.

Design:

- I love the aggressive look. Hood details and front bumper looks good (except the chrome around the intakes).
- Exhausts are too far apart.
- Wheels dont look big because of larger centre-piece. I prefer XK-R wheels.
- Perfect interior.

Mixed feelings. As a Jaguar it does what it should. It has subtle aggression with a more upperclass look. Is it what you want though? Some people love the crazy aggressive look of the E63 and M5. Hmmm...I would take the M5 or RS6 for performance, but maybe the XF-R for looks!

I'd need to see it in real-life to be honest.

They still messed up BIG time on the headlights. That's my problem with this car. Its strong point is its rear 3/4. Unfortunately, the sheetmetal doesn't look very defined. The lines are there, but they aren't very crisp, especially in person. I'm assuming that applies with the XF-R as well.

Here's my quick PS. All I did was change the headlights and reshaped the inside of the lower brake ducts. C'mon Jag.

And yeah, the exhaust tips are set too far apart, and the wheels are crap.

Not bad overall though.

I like it. The XF is showing up more and more on the streets here. It always catches my eye..hard to do. The interior seems a bit cold to me. Overall I would consider the R though. Price???

I like it, however i would only change the wheel and tire package. It looks like they could fit a more aggressive wheel especially in the R edition, but then again the buyer for the XF-r is different than the usual M market.

My changes

- Headlights
- angular side-intakes
- blacked out rear diffuser

I think this would look perfect.

A British car, copying Aston Martin designs, with American Ford parts owned by the Indians. I am surprised Jag is still around.

LOL I did the exact same pic as your 2nd one in photoshop, but never posted it.

How do you warp the intakes like that? I tried that, but it just looks sloppy.

When I was a kid, Jaguar, to me, meant a long, sleek car (besides the logo). It was the car to be used in marriages , it's classy and elegant.

I look at the pics above and looking at the front, I think "Buick". Looking at the back I think "TL". What happened to the sleekness? Is "Jaguar" only about the mesh grill and the logo now?

Go blame Ian Callum who worked for both companies.

Haha...bro I tried to "warp" it using "cntl + t" but that made it look sloppy and blurry as you said so I used "cntl + t" but used "distort" and then messed around with the angles.

It keeps the quality and gives the result
