Long time lurker,first time poster

Just a quick hello from perth - I noticed heaps of other e92s around my area (booragoon/ardross) and thought i'd finally decide to introduce myself.

Bought a '07 335i E92 6MT from Autoclassic about a month and abit ago and have gradually been putting bits on it. Car was an M-sport pack which imo adds far too many "M" badges but the main draw was the individual audio system. I still can't find 4 of the 16 speakers

Apparently the car used to belong to someone who traded it and his black 135i for a new M3...i'd like to be working wherever he's working!

Just as a teaser, the mod list as it stands:

GIAC stage 1 tune (First in australia, apparently)
$90 home made DCI for the whoosh
HKS downpipe-back exhaust
Matte black front grilles
Carbon black&white badges all round
Lots of TLC in the form of bi-monthly details

Parts on order or in the sitting room waiting to go on:

STETT cold air intake
STETT charge pipe w/ Tial blow off valve
STETT intercooler
HKS Hipermax III coilovers
H&R Front and Rear swaybars
AR Design Downpipes

GIAC stage 2 will come after all that. Point to note: Ordering from US vendors is an exercise in patience - blame lies squarely with our wonderful postal service. Always UPS or DHL it if you can afford it.

Apologies for the essay. Pics from the advert, more pictures to come when the car is clean

nice car mate..i'm so jealous...

how'd you go with insurance with all that mods...i'm with AAMI rating 1 driver for a 320d and its a grand already. Can't imagine how much you insurance would be. Infact, i don't even think AAMI will insure me period.

Cheers for the welcome guys!

Smeagol - insurance is ~1600 with Just Car,although i'd avoid them if you reckon a claim is likely. Am considering Shannons as i hear they're much better with modified cars, although they only cater to "enthusiasts" meaning you'll have to be a part of a local car club.

I had a Z4M prior to this one and insurance was lower. Think it's got something to do with lots of 17 and 18 year olds getting 3'ers as birthday presents

Nice to see another modded 335i monster. Say, have u put it on the dyno yet to see how much it punches out?

Have u worked out how much the individual speaker is gona cost u? U should consider aftermarket speakers too coz the individual speakers are not highly rated. Maybe try BSW.

Welcome!!!

Small update - all listed parts are on,car has yet to be dyno'd but is much smoother and plenty quicker to drive. Intake temps are now consistent but i worry about the intake being a restriction as it's a 2-1 setup. May try to get 2 x BMC filters with aircon ducting to the bumper if it'll fit.

Handling with the coilovers and sways is phenomenal. I know the US guys have had some twitchy-ness with the sways but i like the quick response, plus i can dial out some of the nervousness with the damper settings. A point to note though: HKS Coilover spring rates are relatively high so if you're still on runflats you might have some trouble with potholes.

Will be putting on a set of rims + non-RFT tyres in feb, plus a new set of pads and discs. Stay tuned for proper update photos

Sam - Car was putting out 305rwhp with the DCIs and the GIAC stage 1 so i'd hazard a guess at ~340 or 350 now. Hopefully more when stage 2 comes about.

Welcome!!!
Sam, keen to know more on this. I have the base system and although it is better than a toyota or ford, it is still not spectacular. I see the dealers offer an Alpine 80 piece orchestra upgrade for $1,400 installed. I'm wondering if that's a good option or whether it's possible to fit a new amp and speakers myself that I can buy at JB Hi Fi..
