Thanks murphyslaw, I think those style wheels were an option for the 335i. Always liked the look of the ellipsoids :-) |

Used autosol to clean the tits...oh sorry I meant tips.
I could not get the right tip cleaned at the top. It does not look like rust. Anybody encountered this? If yes, any solution or do I have to get new tips?

E91 does not seems as good as E90 was. Possibly due to - RFTs - its not lowered. I bought this car and thought that I would keep it stock. That lasted 1 day

Excuse the mess in the first photo but all the wires are sorted now. I think problem is E91 antenna. When the sound is not amplified, you do not get it. However when sound is amplified, you notice the poor reception rather interference. This is just a theory and I might be wrong. Have you sorted the DAB antenna? I have tried to use the after market dab antenna and results are extremely poor. When there are signals, there is no interference / reception issues like FM antenna but you hardly get signals. I had OEM DAB antenna in E90 and reception were excellent. I was reading the stuff and found that its TV wires which goes to the side glass and not DAB. See this If that is true, then we need to add 1- Antenna strip wire for DAB (as real oem shows) 2- DAB / TV amplifier and we need to establish how the connection works. Does anybody here have E91 with factory fitted DAB? Worth of checking the connection in that car.

Here is the real oem showing the parts http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...65&fg=30&hl=14 Part 1 is diversity antenna Part 3 is DAB antenna Part 4 is DAB and tv amplifier (mustard colour connector = dab fakra connects, green = television fakra connection, pink = ??) And here is how you remove the top cover to have an access to diversity antenna. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=645962 Questions are: 1- Do you have part 1 and 3 present? If part 3 is not there then black connector will have no plug as shown in the DIY (3rd photo from the top). 2- If yes, do you have connector of part 3 going into part 1 as shown in real oem? 3- If above two are correct, can you find where is mustard colour fakra connector connecting to? 4- Do you have part 4 present in your car? 5- If part 4 is present, then mustard colour fakra connector should be connected to it. But where does pink connector cable goes to? Does it go to part 1, or does it go to side glasses or somewhere else? Sorry, it seems a lot but at least you will resolve DAB mystery on E91 which has been there for years. If you cannot, then whenever one of us pass by other, I can try to check it. Many thanks for at least offering the help.

I'm still not convinced about the need for the antenna strip in the spoiler - it's horizontal and DAB has vertically polarised signals. I reckon that the side windows need replacing Hopefully, someone with OEM DAB can settle this.
Now I've got my Dension 500S working I can add its DAB unit and I think I'm going to get one of these and mount it on the OSR window http://www.dabonwheels.co.uk/Kinetic...ar_aerial.html I suppose that it's good to know that it's not worth trying another position for my amp and that the routing of the power cables doesn't make any difference (I ran mine alongside the rear bumper). You could be right about not noticing the crap reception so much before it was amplified. Get rid of the run flats! Last edited by Hopeful; 06-29-2014 at 01:30 PM.. |

On my e90, previous owner had similar antenna mounted for GSM reception and I hated it. You seems correct. I finished studying some documents which suggest that TV / DAB amplifier sits in C pillar and that gives the rationale = antenna wires in side glass. Since Americans do not use DAB (HD radio) and european use different band (shark fin DAB antenna), therefore we people are left alone to deal with DAB issue on E91. re: RFT, going to do that soon by replacing MV3 by something else.

Juts realized that TV / DAB amplifier sits in C pillar so disregard my question 4-5. If you every reach the diversity amplifier, please take plenty of photos and feel free to post here or start new thread. Once again, thanks for the help offer.

Easy option is to look if there is any wiring going through your rear side glasses. Both driver side and passenger side and if yes, can you kindly take a photo and post here. Thanks.
