Cost for an oil change at the dealer?

Does the cost vary from dealer to dealer or is it a set price? How much is the average (if not a set price)? I just wanted to compare it to doing it myself (close to $100).

BMW of Mississauga sells oil for around $8 a bottle (before any applicable discount), around $63 for 7 bottles which is good considering BMW Toronto sells it for almost $10 a bottle. MANN filter is around $10 at PartSource so you can definitely change your own oil for less than $80.

Reading this makes me cringe! But then I saw it was Canada and understood it was a little higher.

My $45 DIY changes don't seem too bad anymore.

Didn't know how much the oil was from the dealer...so if you go to CT and buy oil whether on sale or not, you're spending 80 to 90 not including the filter. That's "close to $100" I'd say.

There used to be the BMW "Value Service Pricing" model for common maintenance items like this (oil service, brakes, etc) but as of mid-last year I believe most of the dealers (at least in GTA) abandoned it and they set their own pricing now. I noticed when I was last in before x-mas that BMW Toronto had taken down their VSP posters.

FWIW as of a few weeks ago BMW Toronto was $179.87 all taxes in for oil service (~ $159 before tax). I hope it would be cheaper for you out West in a city like Winnipeg but not certain.

I did the same calculations as you, and if you stick with all OEM parts oil + filter I figured it would be right around CAD$100 after taxes + costs, plus whatever you value your time at (for us close to the border the Tischer oil change kit used to be the best bet at USD$76 but may not be the case now that our dollar has tanked a few more cents).

You can get the oil and filter from BMW dealers here in the GTA for 67$ tax in.

My cost is estimated at 35 to 40 CAD.
Oil is Mobile1 0w40 at walmart in the USA for 22.44USD for a US Gallon.
I stocked up 3 oil changes worth of oil.
Advantage of living close to the border.

Mann Oil filter from Lordco for 10-12.

I was using Castrol 0-30 but very pricy at 12 per liter at walmart.
