New E91 Owner

Hi,

I stumbled across this forum tonight and thought I would join in. I hope you guys won't discriminate against a family wagon My car was delivered last week and I am surprised how much I enjoy driving it. I traded a Liberty GT so the BMW has less power but definitely steers better. I am looking forward to leaning more about my car from you guys. So far I've discovered that the USB ipod/AUX plug doesn't get on with mac formated ipods. I will post some pictures (when I figure out hoe to do it!)

some initial impressions...

the steering is nicely weighted and understeer is well controlled. We have some excellent (twisty) roads in Tasmania and the BMW definitely has better resolved suspension than the liberty GT and my ex-Audi A4 quattro. I avoided the sport suspension with the 18's because I thought it would be too harsh but I am surprised how comfortable the car rides even with 18 inch runflats. Its certainly soaks up the frequent pot holes better than my Z4. I am now wondering whether I should have opted for the lowered the suspension.

I would definitely get the adaptive bi xenon headlights again and I like the automatic dipping left side mirror and the front PDC is surprisingly useful. I have the high beam assist and first impressions are good but I haven't tried it enough to comment. The comfort access is cool and impresses everyone but that wouldn't be the first option I would tick. Mine is the 140KW 323 and the power is adequate and I agree with some of the other posts that the difference between the 325 and 323 is not breathtaking. The bluetooth works very well with my Blackberry and the programmable idrive buttons are great although it would be nice if you could use a button to automatically display the sat nav map.

I will post some pictures when I wash it.

Welcome Z4tech, nice to have a E91 Owner on board, don't think there are too many of those on the aussie forum.

Hi Z4tech welcome and all the best from another Aussie E91 owner. Bit of a late reply as I have been away but since there are only a couple of us I wanted to take the time to say hello.

I have attached a picture of mine and it would be great to see some of yours when you get around to it.

Hi guys,

First time posting on this forum.

I've just ordered a 2008 323i E91 and am interested to know whether any one has chipped their car to go from 140kw to 160kw.

I've looked through four pages of E91 threads, so I apologise if this has been discussed at length, but nothing was immediately apparent.

Also, does anyone know if there are any changes proposed for the 2008 models? Reading the threads referred to before, it seems not, but I thought I'd ask.

Thanks in advance,

Matthew

Welcome to the forum mdt, I am sure someone will be able to answer your questions here, and if not, just pop a thread asking about it in the main forum!

Thanks Tintin. I'm not convinced that I could really be bothered doing it anyway. Chip tuning rarely costs less than $2k these days, even for NA cars.

Given that I have not specced the car for driving, I'm not sure I see the point. It's more a sign of frustration at BMW detuning the car for what I assume are marketing purposes.

Exactly the way I see it. Why have two identical engines with different ECU tunes priced so differently. It's for marketing reasons only.

Welcome to the forum!!!

Don't worry ... their all the same. No wheel and tyre dealer I know is yet to acknowledge the different offset between the E46 and E90 series. They will all just slap things together as long as it fits.

That's the problem... No concern for anything but in and out, money please... Quality? What's that?
