Not really news, we knew this more than a year ago.

It'll likely be back as the F30 320d. It remains to be seen, but rumblings are the F10 535d coming late this fall or early next year.

It will be interesting to see if the N20 in the 328i meets its EPA rating. Gasoline cars tend to underachieve compared to ratings, while diesels (not just BMWs, but VW especially) often exceed the EPA stated economy rating.

Cheers
D.

It makes no sense for BMW to kill off the 335d but unfortunately it looks like that's where things are heading.

My D gets a very real combined 34 mpg in my 65/35 highway/city commute. I've seen as high as 37mpg, and not just for a short while on the highway, I'm talking about 37mpg on a full 15 gallon tank, manually calculated, over a week and a half of very real world driving.

I'll believe a 328i can do that when I see it do that. My old 328 could hardly muster 24 mpg in similar conditions.

like the above 2 posts say. even if a gas engine ahcieves that number, once must drive like a grandma.

my d consistently hits those mileage numbers and i can have fun doing so.

a 320d would be an excellent car. i hope they bring it. i love my 335d but i am jelly of those new triple turbo diesels. where mine dies off in the top end, those would keep going.

i supposed i could chip it and get similar numbers.....hmmm

I sure hope so. My lease on the 335d expires around the time the F30 should be getting a facelift and I'm hoping they bring a diesel variant with it.

Old news...

a winning formula would be indeed if they brought in the 320D and priced it under the 328i. It looks like BMW is moving towards hybrids towards the USA. I still am of the mind set that people in the US who pay a lot of money for a vehicle are not too concerned with fuel economy...

the problem with the electric cars is they are so regulated.. they have endless amounts of torque but with all the coputer systems limiting everything, the car basically sucks :-/
