I would go with a sealed box on the W6. I've run 10" and 12" W6's before and my best experiences with them are in sealed boxes.

Go with a ported box and tune it. A ported 10 will sound like 2 sealed 10s. You might loose a tiny bit of control ported vs sealed, but i bet you wouldn't be able to tell. I have one 10w3 in my m3 and it sounds amazing.

Ported over sealed any day, build an enclosure with 3/4" MDF wood from lowes or something and get a good sub like an AQ HDC3 or RDaudio JLaudio is shitty for the price and there is much better out there.

Go to caraudio.com forums and they will laugh if you even mention JL.

JL makes sql woofers not spl, there are much louder woofers out there for cheaper, and they are built better.

Go to rdaudio.net and you will find the most badass subs in the world.

Sealed, the last sub I bought was a 12w6 V2, it was a couple years ago and I have not been paying attention to speaker progress.

It is plenty loud in a sealed box, and it is nice clean sound. This particular sub is in my boat and the sound is awesome.

For what its worth, I have been using JL subs for a long time, and I would definitely buy another one.

ported for sure. i had a fosgate 15" T1 in my e46 facing backwards and a tuned L port, holy crap it was LOUUUUUD, make sure you have a builder that knows his stuff and can tune the box to spec. you wont be dissapointed. make sure you can either remove the ski hole junk or put a seat down to enjoy full benefit.
