Standard Radio Improvement
I was very dissapointed in the standard radio sound quality on the 2010 E90.
This simple upgrade worked for me. I bought two pair of Memphis 15-PR 42's. Two in the rear shelf and one in each front door panel. When I removed the standard speakers I could not believe the low quality of the BMW speakers. They were paper, single cone (no tweeters) similar to what one would find in a $20.00 box radio. The instalation was simple. Tap into the existing speaker wires with a two prong jumper and replace the speakers. The back speaker grills snap off and you simply replace the speakers. You will need to re-align the speakers (you can't use the existing screw holes), simply create new ones. The fronts require a little more time to remove the door panels, but the replacement is just as simple as the rears. I gained the welcome sound of four tweeters, and additional base and mid range from the higher quality speakers. I also now have some "twang" which enhanced the overall sound. The original speaker grills are a perfect fit. It's not equal to a "top quality system", but for me, the improvement vs cost and simplicity brings the standard radio to a few ticks above acceptable. 2010 335 Black Raven / Oyster Last edited by napauto; 04-09-2010 at 04:31 AM..
