Help. Boost problem again!

Hi driving back from work last night in my 335d. It was a 140 mile round trip yesterday. I drove an average 80-90mph going and as it was past midnight an average of 90-100mph coming back. Towards the end of my journey I was going up a hill when I decided to hit the gas and see what it could do. I got to 120 and decided not a good idea so slowed down again. After a few second I thought no try it again. I did but this time no boost. Arrrgggggg. Tried a few times but no boost. Finally came off the motorway and drove on normal roads and boost fine to say 50-60mph. Above this definate lag. Anyone help please.

You should've put this thread in the expert hands of the N57 forum. Definite problem, get it looked at .

Is this with the tuning box that you allow your wife to drive with?

I think I'm catching on to English humour.

Year 2007. Mileage- 96.5k.

I know this sounds really daft but it was really windy last night. Do you think that might have had anything to do with it?

Driving into a really strong head wind could affect performance massively, but you would have known if it was that I think. Go out this morning and see if she does it again?!

IIRC there was a known design flaw in the tubing which would cause a boost leak. I think there was a recall on the part and the dealerships would repair as needed. I read this on the UK Tech forum when I was researching reliability o the 335d (M57).

have you driven since?
I would think that you would have heard the boost pipe blowing air. But if it were really windy, maybe not.

Sorry not had chance to reply. Been busy all day. Took out this morning to work. My journey includes country roads and motorways. No problem whatsoever. Seems to be back to normal again. The reason I mentioned wind is at the same time I tried pushing the car and got to 120mph I felt the car suddenly pushed to the side by the wind. So I obviously slowed down. I then tried to speed again a couple of times and then noticed the lag. It must have been the wind. That wind must have been strong and hitting me head on and hard to cause such a lag!

Ahh right, I'm in London at the moment but live in Lancashire. Had a (personal record) of 2hr56 from my home 227mls away from where I am now in London. The 330d was great as usual and obviously to acheive that time, tripple figure MPH's were achieved. We once maxed it to 160MPH and have had no problems like you are describing. Take it to your dealer, they'll diagnose and sort it.

227 mi ๗ 2.93 hrs = 77.5 mph avg.

Triple figure MPH's? Wouldn't a steady 85 with a stop or two work? 160, even on an M road, seems a bit excessive, no?

Lol! The 160mph wasn't on this trip. You need to remember you are working out an average speed there... There were quite a few variable speed limits, 60MPH, slip roads and junctions, and a couple roundabouts with a lengthy 50mph dual carriageway. The last 6 miles were also B roads and A roads.
Lets not take this thread off topic though...
Where does the 2nd larger turbo kick in on the 35d?

On the 335d (the N.A. version, at least) the large (LP) turbo starts to be programmed in at 1500 rpm.

Cheers
